And there's a time and a place, my friend.

This isn't it.

Yes. Creepy.

I enjoyed that. I suppose they would have covered that amount of story in half the time these days (what Tony said earlier in the thread). Very good though and it certainly didn't drag. Good explosion in the quarry.

Excellent huge spanner too. The sort of thing Wile E Coyote would order from acme. Good job he was rubbish with it.

Was the "Yes, like Andy Pandy." line ad libbed?

It may just have been the poor quality on my laptop, but I'm sure I saw it wobble

Yes, it wasn't a normal spanner. It was a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey thing that is hugely significant in the 2013 story arc.

Oh, that would explain it. I'm very impressed that they had the insight to start that story arc 25 years ago. If it's that important, perhaps you should have put your comment in spoiler tags?

Yeah, it was amazingly prescient of them.

In hindsight, of course, you are quite correct.

It was quite a surprise to see that! The other TARDIS's I have seen are the typical futeristic look (silver and shiny).

I think we need to try and get the word "unexplosion" into another DW ep! Great word

Eldred actually looks quite impressive, it's just a shame about the mind-reading effects! Wondered what was going on then!

God, this last ep is ropey. Shame, as the first three were so good.

Actually, I think Stephen Thorne's booming melodrama is welcome in every episode he appears. "I created this world, it is mine by right" could easily be an out-take from 'The Three Doctors'

Or the booming laugh in The Daemons!

But Ep4 of Hand has always let it down - until this last scene of course, which is very emotional. Especially now...

This is brilliant. Even ignoring the dated sFX, it's still appealing in an indescribable way.

"Till we meet again, Sarah".

Goodnight, Liz. Sleep well. You'll always be a special part of my childhood.

Why could the Doctor not take SJ to Gallifrey, I've always been puzzled by that

As a child, I simply thought that Humans weren't allowed there!

I love a bad guy who turns good and then bad again!

It's a shame that (in my opinion) Sarah-Jane spent so much of these episodes unhappy. She didn't seem to smile much.

Her last look at the Doctor after he has said goodbye was heartbreaking especially in the light of the recent news

I think that only Time Lords can go to Gallifrey.

There was fun, danger, adventure, comedy, all the good ingredients of a good Dr Who programme, for me and it was funny that he didn't land where he thought that he had

I enjoyed that very much, but felt so sad at the end.

this is the second classic story he's watched, he absolutely loved the five doctors

My four year watched this too, loved it although a little scared. He's an old fan though been watching nuWho & classic Who for over a year. He's knows all the Doctors. Nice to hear I'm not the only one with a young fan in the family.

Also, did anyone catch Noggin the Nog on the same channel?

It had a starring part in Victory of the Daleks, also - the Doctor bashed the Daleks with it.

Yes....I love Noggin.

Ooh, that sounds a bit rude.

Hmm says it's not available and I can't find it on any iPlayer service.

I refer you to post #40 of this thread, regarding the lack of availability on BBC iPlayer.

There is also a thread on the BBC iPlayer message board about this.

Sad face.

I was really hoping I'd be able to catch it on iPlayer.

Looks like another excuse to buy some more Dr Who DVDs! Ashamed to say I don't have many with Liz on (aside from old VCR recordings) but that's about to change...

I missed most of the Tom Baker era because I was too busy being a young man at the time. This was the first time I had seen that console. Very elegant.

I didn't get Noggin the Nog first time round. I think I was too young. I can see why Oliver Postgate's work is so highly regarded. During the party sequence you could even hear noises that would later become the voices of the Clangers.
