cadbury's chocolate
I bought a cadburys whole nut milk chocolate bar yesterday not having done so for some time.
Does anyone else agree the taste is now horrible. It was too sweet, had a crumbly soft texture, and didn't have the depth of chocolate flavour. What have Kraft done to one of our favourite brands.? |

Yes, noticed this with an easter egg, texture and flavour were definitely not right.

I personally haven't noticed any difference in taste in the regular chocolate bars. |

The chocolate has been fine for me, but it's the caramel I think has gone right downhill. It's tasteless goop, nothing like it used to be.

Well I don't know about the nut one, but I had a cadbury's egg and it didn't taste the same, a bit of a metallicy aftertaste.. Not metallic, but I can't explain it any better than that

I agree that cadbury's choc has lost something and is now far too sweet but, I think this happened before Kraft came into the picture.

Apparently they now use powdered milk but I do suspect some other ingredients have changed as well.

But our love affair went through a bit of a crisis when Cadbury had a shake-up in 2009 and they were no longer made in Dunedin. .http://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/...ectid=10719745
They are now made in Britain - more than 300 million are produced each year. Facebook and Trade Me forums are outraged, saying the imports are inferior. Cadbury confirmed there were some differences - the chocolate is thinner in Britain and the filling is not as runny because instead of being injected into the shell it "goes in as more of a blob" |

Cadburys Roses taste very sweet and sickly. But the other Cadburys chocolates seem ok.

We had some Milk Tray just after Christmas, and they were nothing like they used to be - really poor for the money.
I must admit that I am going right off Cadbury chocolate. |

you can taste the difference between say a cadbury chocolate, and a toblerone chocolate.
its about the cocoa solids and milk solids content. |

You see Toblerone in every airport gift shop in the world, perfect for using up the last of your local currency on then giving to someone you don't like when you get home, its awful stuff. Cadbury's is not bad really, its the plonk of the chocolate world, certainly better than American Hershey chocolate.

I was under the idea that Cadburys could not be called or advertised as chocolate due to the very low quality and lack of cocoa content, some EU reg as far as I can remember.

I hate that stuff but not a huge fan of white chocolate. Only stuff I ever liked was the milky bars I bought in Italy they were really good.If I'm feeling flush then it has to be anything from Hotel Chocolat but and I know I am probably on my own here but I do like the taste of American or other countries chocolates hence why I end up spending a small fortune in Cybercandy. Generally though its mostly Milka chocolate I've been buying lately or the Fry's creams so not really been bothering with Cadbury's much anyway but do have one of the turkish delight bars so will see if I taste any difference. |

Its not just the qualiy that has suffered, what about the quantity!
Prices have gone up and the bars have gotten smaller. |

![]() As for the chocolate, I have not noticed any change in the chocolate, but I prefer Galaxy so I have always thought Cadbury's had an inferior taste ![]() Edit: Someone already made the joke, sorry my bad

I wouldn't even use Cadbury's for cooking. Low cocoa solids content, made with cheap palm oil and sold at a premium price? No thanks.
Though, at the other end, you also have deluded foodies who'll buy Lindt Excellence 70% or 85% and that tastes like burnt rubber. Green and Blacks is horrible too. Tesco's used to do an excellent 70% (German-made) bar which didn't have too much vanilla in it and had some nice, complex, flavours for the 80p they charged for it. It became a 'Finest', almost doubled in price and then went down in quality. My local Tesco also used to sell a 'Java 40%' milk bar which was fantastic. Lovely caramel after-taste to it. I haven't seen it for at least two years. |
