What is the difference between an xbox with 4gb hard drive and...

...a 250 gb hard drive?

Does the latter really have 60 times more hard drive memory than the former?

I gather that this must be a boring question for the experts but please humour me and tell me the pros and cons of each. I will pretty much just be using it for games. I am completely ignorant of these things so do need help.

if you use one as a music or video server/store - then you need more space

if its just for games save, then you dont

In a word yes, the 250Gb version just has a larger hard disc. They both play the same games and both be used for game saves etc.

Where the bigger hard disc comes into it's own is with either downloadable content (buying games online say), or if you want to store photos, videos and music on the XBox. Doing any of that and you'll run out of space VERY quickly on the 4Gb version.

Always go for bigger hard drive have Xbox with 250gig and you will be suprised how much space game addons and content use up I have used over 70gig with map packs and demos more space is always handy thats why have 4 Terabites on my computer system space is always handy in gameing.

You will also find that the 4Gb model will not work with some games.

Eg Halo Reach, as that uses functionality that requires a hard drive.

I will also add that the 4GB xbox doesn't come with a HDD, it comes with 4GB internal flash, the 250GB xbox doesn't.

Also you can add a 16GB USB drive to expand the 4GB model and games will run faster off it than the HDD.

Halo Reach works fine after an update

to save wear and tear on your DVD drive in the xbox , you should install every game to the hard drive. This will mean that it runs quieter , as the dvd drive simply starts up to make sure you own the disc and then goes to sleep. The dvd is virtually silent now , as is the fans .............. a major bug bear for older models

so that means the 4gb fills up rapidly

the way forward is a NAS hard drive with ethernet and you can stream pictures, music and video all from the Hard drive , straight to the Xbox without a PC on

for £ 160 the 250 gb model is fantastic value

you could buy the 4gb model and take a hard drive off an older model , take the case off and install it.......................... I would simply get the 250

I'd recommend buying the 250GB. I've installed my most played games to the hard drive...because I don't want to rely on the disc while playing. The disc needs to be in the console, but it doesn't spin (or at least fast) while playing the game, it's just to check you do have the game. It makes the gaming experience much, much quieter.

I have a 4GB Xbox Slim and have no problem with Halo Reach. I'm pretty sure all games are designed to work without any storage.

I would say a 4 gig 360 is only really useful for people who don't use their 360 all the time. I have a 60 gig 360 and have about 1 gig left from downloading arcade games/add ons etc and storing music and saving games onto the hard drive.

If you have the money for a 250 gig 360 I would go with that.
