Sony Bravia 40" LCD/LED TV help

I need some help with my new TV, I've wired it up with my Sky+ box and Sony DAV DZ111 home theatre system, when I play the TV through the theatre system so I can use the surround speakers the sound will be out of sync with the pictures but okay when its played directly through the TV, can anyone help me as its driving me mad.

if it helps the Sky+ is through a scart plug in aux port 1 & the DVD/Home theatre system is wired directly from the box to the TV via a scart plug on aux port 2

You probably need to adjust the audio delay (AV sync) - check pg 48 of your manual (you can download a copy from sony if you've lost it.)

tip - make sure both the TV and amp are producing an audio output at the same time. Whilst out of sync you'll get an "echo" effect. Adjust the AV sync until the "echo" is gone - the sound and picture should then be in sync.

(Ideally you need an amp which accepts a 5.1 over optical, (which sky+ boxes have,) you can then adjust the AV sync via the sky+'s settings.)

Hi thanks for your answer, I've tried to following the instructions on the Home Theatre System but it only gives me the option to switch the AV sync on & off and not make any adjustments, I've also tried finding the setting on the Sky+ system without any luck.

When a DVD is played the sound is in sync when played through the theatre system and also when Sky+ is played through the TV, the echo only happens when Sky is played with the theatre system

I don't think the Sky+ has the audio delay setting?, only Sky HD.

Simple answer, connect your TV optical output to the surround sound, this will output anything on the TV through the surround sound, and the TV takes care of the sync problem.

If you're interested in the reason, it's because of the picture processing time inside the TV - and the better the set, the longer the processing time (because the better the processing).
