Final Decision: Sony Bravia or Panasonic TXL ?
MediaFM
27-04-2011
This is my final decision: I need a 32" 1080p HDTV that is good at playing Blu-rays and the Wii game. I have knocked it down to two:

the Sony Bravia KDL32EX403U

KDL-32EX403 (KDL32EX403, KDL32EX403U) : Overview : TV & home cinema : Sony

SONY Bravia KDL-32EX403U 32" Full HD LCD TV buy online | Currys (from Currys)

or the Panasonic TXL-32S20B

Buy Panasonic TX-L32S20B 32 Inch Full HD 1080p Freeview LCD TV at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for LCD TVs.

Please help me decide.

I have fallen into the trap of whether to get the newer Sony Bravia CX520 or the older EX403.

The newer Sony has X-Reality picture processing instead of the 403's Bravia 3 engine. Does this matter when watching Blu-ray films ?

Also, what is the Picture in Picture ? Any help will be appreciated.

Does the CX520 have an HD tuner? (DVB-T2), looking at the spec I can't see it.

The EX403 does, so this may be a deciding factor.

No but I don't really need Freeview HD on the TV because I just want to use it for playing the Wii and watching Blu-rays.

One thing some of new led backlights are a bit patchey on dark pictures I whent with CCD as I think it gives much better picture on blu-ray as for HD tuner it is a very good thing to have for future the main 4 channels are all in HD on terrestial tv after switch off It might be already on where you live in southeast it is next year but still worth haveing makes things future proof. The XReality processing is for internet video streaming which I find is much better on my PC which is connected to tv so wont be much use on blu-ray and gameing.

LED backlighting makes the set thinner - that's pretty well the only advantage. If you're not wallmounting, then it's probably not worth it?.

OK, so no X-Reality for Blu-ray use. Thanks.

No, I'm not wall mounting. I had issues with my previous LED set - the blacks were blue and hazy. It was unwatchable and nomatter what I did with the picture settings, the blacks weren't true blacks.
