3 dongle - driver deletes when PC sleeps / turned off
Hi everyone,
I've just purchased a 3 ZTE MF 112 dongle and am using it on a Windows XP Professional (SP3) Dell Latitude X300 laptop. The 3 software installs okay and the service is good. However, when I switch off the laptop it seems the modem driver is lost. On switching on again I get 'no network' and a steady green LED on the dongle. Although the 3 software is present it seems the dongle driver deletes when I switch off (or the laptop hibernates). The driver won't install as a separate item, so the only way to get online is to delete the 3Connect installation, reboot, reinstall, and connect (except sometimes the driver doesn't install even then so I have to repeat the whole operation until eventually all is good.) Has anyone met this before and, if so, is there a solution? This is frustrating! Thanks, Ian |

Have you tried connecting via Control Panel and seeing if the 3 dongle is listed as one of the available connections?

One thing I like on Windows 7 is I can connect to the net using the dongle without having to go through the 3Connect software.
Are you sure the modem driver is getting deleted? That should not be happening - check in device manager and check control panel for dial up modems. I'm also confident that constant uninstalling and reinstalling is probably asking for trouble too. |

I'm running XP with SP3, and my 3 Dongle software is running fine, so I'm thinking it's not an inherent OS problem.
