Hi everyone,

I've just purchased a 3 ZTE MF 112 dongle and am using it on a Windows XP Professional (SP3) Dell Latitude X300 laptop.

The 3 software installs okay and the service is good. However, when I switch off the laptop it seems the modem driver is lost. On switching on again I get 'no network' and a steady green LED on the dongle. Although the 3 software is present it seems the dongle driver deletes when I switch off (or the laptop hibernates).

The driver won't install as a separate item, so the only way to get online is to delete the 3Connect installation, reboot, reinstall, and connect (except sometimes the driver doesn't install even then so I have to repeat the whole operation until eventually all is good.)

Has anyone met this before and, if so, is there a solution? This is frustrating!

Thanks,
Ian

Have you tried connecting via Control Panel and seeing if the 3 dongle is listed as one of the available connections?

One thing I like on Windows 7 is I can connect to the net using the dongle without having to go through the 3Connect software.

Are you sure the modem driver is getting deleted? That should not be happening - check in device manager and check control panel for dial up modems.

I'm also confident that constant uninstalling and reinstalling is probably asking for trouble too.

I'm running XP with SP3, and my 3 Dongle software is running fine, so I'm thinking it's not an inherent OS problem.
