I saw an 84 year old woman on TV who'd flown from New Zealand to see it

I'm not too bothered by it but feel like I should watch it because it's such a historical event
And all the Americans flying over and waving the flags. Each to their own I suppose.

I really don't think Christian looks terribly "worried" about how Syed's newfound connection with his mother (and maybe father) might mess things up for their relationship. I do believe he's concerned for Syed, that he might (probably will) end up terribly hurt again... But I don't feel any insecurities about their relationship here at all.. So yeah.. he's a bit p*****d off that Syed kept stuff from him, but they walk into the Vic, Christian has time for a bit of a joke and a grin with Alfie, making a few "roll eyes" remarks at Syed... but I don't get any "scared about their relationship" vibes at all...

Even during he convo he has with Fatboy... even then he doesn't seem so terribly upset...

Which means to me that "the line" is completely.. random , has nothing to do whatsoever with their relationship, .... and thus could be about wanting to be a father..
Agree with this post.

I think he's worried about Syed getting hurt again from his family.

i want to see her dress but im not fussed by anything else. The Royal family are just soooo outdated. They have no idea of the real world.

I can still remember watching an interview with some old ladys that William had gone to visit with some charity and him asking them on a councel estate if they paid more for the view because they was 14 stories up in the air
the mind boggles lol.

I think it will be really interesting to see Z/M's reaction to Syed telling them they have to accept Christian on Monday. I'm looking forward to seeing if it's a unanimous 'no' from both of them or whether one says it and the other just goes along with it. It'll also be interesting to see how Masood reacts to Syed now that he's come down from his gambling high!

This is in answer to your reply about Syed MT

Sorry I lost the quotation in the thread split.

Re- not telling Christian about Zainab.

I don't think Syed was difficult to understand here. He wanted contact established before he told Christian. I don't blame him, he didn't want to be 'put off', by a dose of worried realism from Christian, or to think about the 'Christian problem' he was full of tremulous hope about it, poor love, because he really, really wants it.

But I think he knew he couldn't keep it a secret for ever (head in the sand, as someone said) enjoying the dream.

And I don't think he really believed that the Masoods would accept Christian that easily or quickly either. Or that Christian, though he wants the best for Syed, would find it easy.

He just HOPED that it was possible, against the odds, and for a few days enjoyed living in hope.
I agree.

Great post.
I suppose too, Syed has always been quite reserved to the point of secretive, and difficult to read. All of which makes him fascinating.
He is indeed fascinating

Syed is being somewhat naive if he thinks his parents will come around to accepting Christian but it understandable because he wants that so desperately. However, he made his choice; he could have gone back to his parents anytime by rejecting Christian but he hasn’t and he won’t, his love for Christian is stronger than for his parents. Christian will always come first. Remember when Christian said to M & Z, "I love him more". Syed would now say that about Christian.
Yes syed does indeed love christian more

Was Christian meant to be naked in that dressing gown? Might explain the big man comment
awhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i hope so

I am hoping this is true
me tooo

I'm with Who Me? on this one, I think - all that stuff is hovering in the background, but because he knows Syed loves him, he was just mightily cheesed off about what he fears will just be hurt and hassle, more than anything.

Congrats on the OP, elphie, it's a classic Unlike tonight's episode

TPTB, if you're lurking, when we talk about having low expectations for an episode, it's because we want you to prove us wrong No "beautiful" script peek, how evil is that, putting it on the site, teasing us with it for weeks and then bloody cutting it And yet again, no kiss when the scene was crying out for one. I actually would have loved the hug if it wasn't for the fact that it was so obviously a cop-out, an "acceptable" way to show the boys being loved up. There's no way anyone will convince me they wouldn't have kissed if they'd been a straight couple Also yet again, the Chryed scenes were too short, no proper conversations just a few telegraphic lines with too much left unsaid, leaving us to try to read between the lines to make sense of it all.I'm not even going to comment on Christian's line to Fatboy...
Tbh, I didn't like Christian's characterisation at all tonight. I would expect him to be worried and concerned about Syed getting involved with his family again, but he just came across as arsey. Where was the sensitive, concerned Christian of ABRC week, "sorry, babe", putting his arm around Syed and taking him inside after Zainab rejected him on his return from hospital? This doesn't bode well for the forthcoming adoption plot

This line could be about anything cound't it,but i definately don't think he is concerned about their relationship, more that the massoods will interfere

I'm not sure it's necessarily about who he loves more, but the type of love. I doubt Syed thinks in terms of 'I love Christian more', but the type they share is completely unconditional, and Christian will accept him no matter what. While he has his completely reasonable reservations and insecurities about Syed reconciling with his parents, he would never actually try to stop him from seeing them. He would tolerate Syed's parents because being in their lives makes Syed happy. The same cannot be said for Zainab and Masood. Syed recognises that Christian would do anything for him, but he knows full well that his parents' love has conditions and limits. No matter what, he can't turn his back on the sort of love Christian offers him, even if he does love his parents as much as he loves Christian.
Great post

I agree. Its all the troubles and stress this might bring them both that was bothering him.

I guess Syed has to be some way reconciled with his parents to enable him to feature in the draaaama that is no doubt impending!

I gave a hollow laugh when he said that, good on what scale?
I have no idea Is he deluded or what?

I'm interested to see it too And poor Syed is going to be crushed again He's so naive to think that everything will work out this time but in an adorable way... I can't help but love him!

That's the size of it - and it makes sense plot wise.

Talking of size.....

Belated Congratulations to Elphie on the huge OP.

Yes that's the worry isn't it, plot motivated rather than the actual characters and how it might really happen.

I agree you can't compare love for a partner with love for parents and it is sad when people have to choose. That's why Christian is not expecting Syed to choose, just worried that his hopes and expectations are way too high.Past experience doesn't help when his parents have been so inconsistent and facing so much trauma themselves.

Three Belgian tv channels are actually broadcasting the wedding... from 9 am tomorrow morning (8 am your time)... I have the day off (worked too many hours over the past weeks, so had to take more 'in lieu' time before end of month), and a colleague who knows I'm a bit of an ... err.. "anglophile" asked me if I took the day off to watch the wedding .. Nooooooooo... I'd stay home to watch Chryed's wedding, but apart from that... I'm pretty normal

I'd like to think Masood because I think he knows that Yusef is capable of manipulating things like he did with the engagement party But then if EE want to make Masood even more isolated then they'll make Syed take Yusef's side It's be quite good if Syed was the only one who supported Masood in it all though

Sadly they're trapped in a soap opera
