The Disappointed is also one of my fave XTC songs. The others I like are Making Plans for Nigel, Generals & Majors and Seargeant Rock is Gonna Help Me.

"King For A Day" is another XTC classic.

"Fossil Fuel" the XTC singles compilation should be in everyone's music collection IMHO. It really is that good.

Partridge suffered from extreme stage fright and had a breakdown because of it. Shame really as they were a fantastic, intelligent band.

Wake Up, Dear God, Sgt Rock, Senses Working Overtime, Making Plans for Nigel....all excellent!

ps did the registration plate on one of the Royal Range Rovers remind you of the band on this particular day? It did for me!

From my hometown XTC really were a fantastic intelligent pop band.

I'd recommend the 2CD Fossil Fuel (Virgin Singles 1978-1993 collection) compilation to anyone.

My friend got me into XTC a few years ago and was staggered by just how good they were.

Wrapped in Grey is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard:

Also love This World Over:

Ball and Chain:

Paper and Iron (Notes and Coins):

As a few people have commented on youtube, love the drumming on the last two tracks.

Wrapped In Grey was the reason the band decided to 'strike'.Virgin released it as a single before changing their minds and withdrawing it. The 'and at the very least you can stand up naked and grin' at the end is interesting too

I love this band. They are and have always been so underrated.

XTC and Billie, both from same town but different ends of music spectrum
Other musicians from Swindon include Gilbert O'Sullivan, Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues and Rick Davies from Supertramp.

Meatbeat Manifesto were formed in Swindon.

Last I heard of XTC were 2 albums around 1999 - 2000, Apple Venus Vol 1 & 2 (Wasp Star).

I thought these were as good as all their earlier stuff.
