Aerial sockets

Hi guys.

Hope this isn't a stupid question. I want to buy a new tv. I've been looking at the Argos catalogue, but none of them seems to state that they have an aerial socket.

Can anybody give me any advice on this. Thanks.

You need to look for the type of tuner it has.

Freeview means it will have a standard aerial socket whereas a Freesat tuner means it will have an F type coax connector for a satellite connection.

Some TV's come with both types of tuners and there are SD and HD versions of both. Anything but bottom of the range stuff will usually have HD tuners these days.

They probably don't mention they have a mains plug either, but if it's a TV, then it has an aerial socket.

Errr how do you think a TV designed to receive broadcast signals from an aerial connects to said aerial ?

I suspect they don't list an aerial socket for the same reason they don't list it has a mains plug, so obviously has to have one no point mentioning it

I'm pretty sure every TV they sell will have an aerial socket, unless it's one with built-in Freesat (as Roush mentioned). Even then, there'd probably be one anyway, but it might not have built-in Freeview.

I did say I hope it wasn't a stupid question.

Obviously it was, I hang my head in embarrassment and shame.

Most tvs have screens. Some have speakers. A few have an on switch.

afaik no one has built a freesat TV without both a analogue and a digital freeview tuner. As a result I doubt it's possible to buy a TV without a Belling Lee aerial input, adding a satellite tuner/cable tuner of any description adds a f type input.

A feature I'd really like on my tv is a sarcasm button. Whatever anyone says, it comes out as sarcastic. With today's DSP chips, surely this is possible?

Will sure help spice up the weather forcasts!
