...and similar musical variations of.

I know its a generalisation but most of it seems and bit daft.
I liked this stuff as a teenager but quickly grew out of it largely based to the silliness of much of it. I'm baffled that adults like it.

I like some of it, it's become very generic and dull though.

EDIT - I am 29

The mainstream stuff is awful but so is a lot of mainstream commercial music.

I am sure some of the less well known and more underground Rappers have so great tunes as is the case with a lot of the underground scenes.

Theres no passion in mainstream music, its there to make money and nothing else.

As someone who loves classical music and opera I would say that 'hip hop' is just the worst sort of appalling rubbish.

100% agree. I despair of music nowadays I really do, when I go to gigs I rarely enjoy the headliner as much as the support acts.

People like what they like. Trying to dismiss a genre as childish and moronic is absurd and just smacks of music snobbery.

I'm 41 and still like plenty of rap music - maybe not a lot of the more recent tunes, but there's enough out there worth listening to. But then i like all forms of music so I don't really try and belittle anyone for liking anything really.

As Zane Lowe once said "if it's good, i like it".

But when you've fully experienced the depths of classical music then it's impossible to sup at the fount of lesser genres and remain satiated for long.

"Classical music" is pretty broad, anyway your love of it is clearly... errr... intimate so I will take your word for it.

My music choices are very similar, I love Hard House, Hard Bounce, Bouncy House, Pumpin House, Hands Up, Hardstyle and Scouse House but I enjoy them because they make me happy.

I think music should make people happy, not make them angry or sad. I have never got why people listen to songs that upset them or send them in a rage but thats just me.

I am aware most of you will read my music preferences and go....huh? Its ok.

Actually I've just put two 'rap' albums on my Walkman -

Necro - 'Death Rap'
Lil John & the East Side Boyz - 'Crunk Juice'

- and I'm a die-hard Metal fan. But then musical taste is subjective, what I like others may hate and vice versa.

Yes but:

1 He is rapping with that pointless aggressive moronic pseudo macho vocal tone - just like all other rappers. Why do they need to have 'attitude'?? If the music and lyrics are good enough self posturing attitude is not required!

2. He is waffling on about 'Hummers' - why do all rappers have an obsession with bling, limos and hummers??!! Self- centered obsession about the consumerist society for their own ends.....

I find generalisations like this quite frustrating, especially when people making them probably haven't listened to a lot of hip-hop music in their lives, just the chart stuff on the radio. If you do a bit of searching around and get some recommendations you can find some great music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwoM5fLITfk^ Probably one of my favourite songs of all times.

Just a few, there's SO much more amazing Hip-Hop & R&B music out there waiting to be discovered.

Classical music and opera is not my cup of tea but I don't dismiss them. As you grew and change then natually your music tastes changes. When I was younger, Spice Girls and Steps were the best thing in music but I hate the similar artists on the market.

Hopfully I will be living when our generation are nursing homes. Imagine 90s old dancing artist such as Lady Gaga. Beyonce and her dancing will be responsible a lot of broken hips.

Yes and no. So much of 'modern' music is part of fashion. It comes and goes and people's taste changes. Much classical music and opera is beyond fashion, having survived the test of time itself, and so once you like it you'll often find that you always like it because it's not tied into fashion in anything like the same way as the Spice Girls, or Abba or Lady Gaga, etc.

Classical music was in fashion but it is defintely not in fashion now. I am sorry but classical and opera are tied into fashion just like every other type of music.

Abba was in fashion in 1970s and they are still popular choice. There has been a musical and movie and their music are still being played by people who was not even alive when they were popular
