i have an answer
I got an answer from Technisat support on email.
One can set up a favourite channels list (in fact 2) but it doesn't change the listings in the EPG as such but in a channel list that appears if you press "ok" when watching a channel. This channel list is ok if u already know which channel u want to switch to as it doesn't give any program information. You have to use the "tick" button on the remote control (it shows a tick symbol) to select a favourites list and it only remembers that you want to select this list (rather than the complete list or other favourites list) if you first select to view a channel on your newly-displayed favourites list. It will then return to displaying your favourites list when u next select the lsit by pressing "ok". This procedure is neither obvious (to me) nor is it documented in the User Manual. I'm getting the impressioon that the Technisat HDFS is not much good for the uninitiated, i.e., the average customer off the street. |

It's not an uncommon feature though, my Mum's Philips Freeview box works the same way and I'm pretty sure my original analogue satellite system in the days of Astra 1 worked this way too. You can toggle between the complete list and the favourites list but the list that it "remembers" and brings back by default is the one you last selected a channel from.
