Amy's Pregnancy Question - weird implications Possible spoilers

All throughout that episode we were generally meant to veer between whether the baby was Amy's and The Doctors. There were little lines where I wasn't sure if the baby was going to turn out to be The Doctor's.

I think the baby will turn out be The Doctors. The Silents seemed to need the little girl specifically. They had that proto Tardis thing that they'd built and maybe they needed a time traveller to pilot it. Maybe blowing up the Doctors Tardis in the last series was a way of scattering pieces that they could find to build their own Tardis. Humans couldn't do it, and The Silents were specifically mentioned as not doing anything for themselves. They're using pieces of the original Tardis that was blown up, maybe?!

What if The Doctor and Amy did have sex because of The Silents in some way, but have forgotten about it. The girl in the spacesuit is human and timelord at the same time. The spacesuit specifically mentioned being produced to keep humans alive.

Now The Silents have no use for The Doctor and Amy's child and she's now off as a child by herself regenerating in American back alleys.

The child could be some sort of clone child. Using the Doctor and Amys DNA. The Silents could have taken some hair or something off the Doctor, then he forgot. Also they had Amy down in their TARDIS for severeal days, could have used her at some stage during them.

I think the little girl regenerates into the Doctor that we saw killed. This is because the girl was created by the Doctor's DNA which was stolen by the Silents. The "future" Doctor is not really the future Doctor but the Doctor borne from the girl. The "real" Doctor knows this which is why he chose to "go on adventures" rather than go back and find the young girl. However, Canton stays close to the "new" Doctor who also shares the real doctors thoughts. To end the Silents reign properly The Doctor has to die so the "new" Doctor works hard to devise a plan which will see the demise of The Silents once and for all!

That makes really good sense. Love that idea. The only thing I find a bit off with the girl is the fact that when she regenerated she seemed almost to be 'trying' the regeneration as if, even though she'd said she had done it a few times, she still seemed bemused by the whole process.

But in reality, this was the first time SHE had regenerated! As she shares the Doctor's thoughts, technically she remembers doing it several times before but as this was the first time this little girl regenerated she was nervous about whether it worked or not!

Yeah great point actually. I think my original post now might be a little over the top.

Has anyone thought that Steven Moffat has written the pregancy in to cover up a bigger problem?
(not sure what it is personally, just thinking)
& the dr & amy had sex last series, in the 'Forest of The Dead' but she would have started showing if she got pregnant then...

The suit was designed to keep a human alive, but what if that human was already part Time Lord either by birth or possibly a meta crisis regeneration and the suit was just stoping her from burning up until she was able to regenerate properly? Maybe the suit was the Doctors handywork and not the Silents.

I keep thinking about The Silence in the Library, where River realises who Donna is, and looks shaken by it. She clearly knew what was going to happen to Donna, but just maybe she knew more than we have already seen. Probably wrong, but its as good a guess as any

Huh?? Amy wasn't even in Forest of the Dead

She made her first appearance in the season after it

I think he means the 2nd part of the weeping angels story, 'flesh & Stone' but Amy only tries to snog the Dr and he backs off and fetches her boyfriend to avoid getting entangled in her amorous advances...

Purely from a practical point of view, the Doctor couldn't have impregnated Amy at any point in the last few months - their linear time.

Rory may seem a bit dippy at times but he is a qualified nurse and would have noticed if his wife stopped having periods and started throwing-up every morning and eating coal whilst crying uncontrollably during Prime Minister's Question Time.

Don't forget that Amy felt pregnant after feeling queasy - a result of contact with the Silence - and so did River, the only other person who did and both were female.

One other possible connection (I'm putting these in spoiler quotes - they are guesses rather than facts but I haven't seen the ideas mentioned elsewhere and they are a bit detailed -and fairly logical)

Spoiler
The woman in the White House toilet - the Silence knew her name and was in the bathroom with her - maybe she was "destroyed" because - putting this delicately - she proved she wasn't pregnant.

...which points to an obvious possibility...

Spoiler
The Silence impregnated Amy and were watching her to see if it "took". When she felt ill at the White House and went to the loo, they knew the implantation/impregnation had taken and destroyed Joy - partly because she was no longer needed and partly to destroy the evidence or prevent her pregnancy continuing. They also thought that the Doctor was Amy's bloke - simple mistake or lack of understanding of human relationships - and told her to tell him she was preggers but not to tell him about their involvement - hence her "pressing need" to tell the Doctor she was up the duff instead of Rory - she had to tell him because the Silence told her to.

...all of which ties in with <this one contains more guesses in detail and they relate to past and future episodes - don't read if easily offended >

Spoiler
The Silence have been trying to create a TARDIS - they could be trying to create Time Lords too. 1969 - the year of the first two episodes - is also the year (our time) that the Time Lords were first named in Troughton's War Games episodes - in a plot that involved proto-type TARDISes called SIDRATS that could change their internal dimensions - like the flat in The Lodger where the Silence TARDIS-like room was first seen. The multiple TARDISes in this weeks episode - and some other elements - would fit with that episode too. The Silence could implanting "DNA" into humans. Maybe they chose Amy for a specific reason - remember that people who've travelled in time have that "aura" - or maybe they've been impregnating women for centuries and making everyone forget the babies - or failures.

The Silence may be Time Lords or a species placed on Earth to re-create the TL race using TL DNA and human hosts or they could be a Time Lord-like species or off-shoot (think Vulcan v Romulan).

It's also possible that the time we know she was strapped down in that bed by the Silence - which was an unknown amount of time after she saw the Silence nest in the orphanage- was not when she was impregnated/implanted - that was when they "harvested" the baby or foetus. The orphange could be where all such "babies" were placed. The missing children - could have grown up into fully fledged or adolescent Silence - the ones hanging from the rafters - and as soon as that happens, they are forgotten - hence the old bloke thinking they'd disappeared.

..and finally - just for a laugh...

Spoiler
