Hot/spicy food: yay or nay
When I'm making dinner I often make a base stew or whatever, serve it to my partner, then in goes the curry paste, reggae reggae sauce, chillis etc for mine.
So, out there in DS-land, spicy food: yay or nay? |

I don't mind it in a dish but I wouldn't put chilli sauce etc on my food after it had been cooked.

I am rubbish with spice, I need a gallon of milk near me if I have anything that is remotely spicy hot. I don't rule out spicy food - but if it is too hot then I don't see the point, sometimes things are added just for heat and heat is not flavour.

Spicy yes, but hot not particularly.
I could never eat a vindaloo in Britain (but funnily enough, could in the country of origin, Goa, because it was milder!) nor a phal, but love adding things like cumin, cardamom etc to veggies etc. I have a lot of recipes from my Indian sister in law, and they all use spices, but not a lot of chillies. Which is lovely. |

Love spices, but also love delicate flavours. The last very simple dish i made was griddled salmon and griddled asparagus. Mmmmmm.

I like spicey food but with the exception of Tobasco I'm not a fan of store-bought hot sauces. the ones I tried have an underlying sweetness I wasn't keen on.

A big nay from me! I can't hack anything stronger than onions/garlic. I can just about manage raw onion in a salad, so anything stronger than that just tastes like fire and burning for my weak pain threshold!

I'm becoming more of a fan. Not seriously spicy but in everyday dishes I now add some fresh chilli or hot sauce just to get a little tingle on the tongue.

Although i love my curries, still not to hot though.
Vindallo or Phall are much to hot for me, will eat them but barely finish the curry. It's the texture & spices with the meat or veg that floats my boat. Sticking to madras or ceylonese for me. |

Yes but not too hot. Even 'medium' hot chicken in peri peri restaurants is too hot for me.
I'm not a fan of curries, probably because I can't make them from scratch so eat them from takeaways or from a jar. They all seem to be too greasy. I prefer spicy food in other things like black pepper, harissa or thai food. |
