Sky haven't 'forced you to subscribe' to a package for years now, you can subscribe to just one Sports mix if you want - but just as subscribing to any mix, there's a basic charge plus the mix.
Sports is £20.25 and they force you to add a pack at £19.50. |

Thats a flat out lie, they wont allow you to subscribe to the sports channels without subscribing to an entertainment pack.

This was my debate with the sky operative I said can I just have sport. Not without the basic package. They should consider this as an option in the future.
ie 1 package is 20 and 5 packages are 24, everyones going to go for the 5 packages even if they wont watch them. |

I'm another that dumped Sky and moved over to Freesat. My problem was prices I was paying just over £70.00 per month for line rental, satellite (all channels except sport and Movies), broadband and muti-room. Now after paying for 2 freesat boxes £180.00 each and just paying £28.00 per month for line rental and broadband.

Or maybe you have to have a package + sports for a year and then drop? I'm pretty sure you can subscribe to the web service sports only though, PAYG monthly sub. However, no idea what the picture quality is like/buffering etc. Anyway, welcome to the Sky-free zone. The water (and the bank balance) is lovely! |

There are a small number of posters (regulars know who they are) who will jump on any post that is detrimental to sky and promote the sky case. |

To be fair though..
Consistently the quality of video signal seen via RGB Scart ... from the very old SKY box.. receiving the FreeSkySat on the superb [Except for the Audio] Newly released Panny.. beats the SD channels on Freeview and Freesat.. However the HD on BBC for the wedding was spectacularly the best we have ever seen..and Yes we were 20/20 the day before at Specsavers..

Read with interest Graham..
From time to time... when Janet just 'Had to go' ![]() i was able to compare Humax HD with panny Freeview HD.. with a 'LAST VIEWED' facility which is Brill.. but we kept it on the Humax as a precaution.. The Home Cinema sound system produced Rear helicopter noises that had Janet looking for open windows.. [The 'SUB' this morning did not now get the normal Disdainful look when vacuumed around ] and some of the Rear transient voices she actually responded to.. as she thought it was me in the kitchen making the fish and chips dinner.. Why does not the reality.. quoted by the world experts THX.. that the sound is 50% of the immersive experience.. [My MOD.."Even at 10 feet viewing distance" ] permeate into the real world?.. Are most viewers too thick to comprehend this simple truth? or possibly it's even simpler?.. " Most males are Hen-pecked at home" Stan |

Just want Sky Sports? However, you'll notice the price as that's for either Sky Sports 1 or 2. The full package is only a few pound cheaper than having an entertainment pack plus sports.Sky customers can take Sky Sports without having to take an Entertainment Pack. Prices start from £29.75. To order, call 0844 822 2035 You then have the problem of actually talking to someone that knows about it as I had to direct the CSA to the website when I was considering it about 18 months ago. |

That's true, but there are a fair number of Freesat-ers who waste no time in slagging off Sky too.

You can have just the sports packs.

If you go to the main page, you cant have it without a normal package and SS is just as expensive as having the package anyway which goes back to their way of conning you in the prices. SS is not available unless you pay over the odds. Ofcom should look into their pricing to the price is the same for everyone. |

email from sky-
Sky Sports can be added without subscribing to the entertainment packs. To have a single sky sports channel either sky sports 1 or 2 would be 29.75 or if you take sky sports 1 and 2 you would also be given sky sports 3 and 4 free as bonus channels this would be 38.75 per month without any entertainment packs however this would be a minimum 12 months subscription. |

[quote=Andy380;49787760]You would have to order over the phone but it can be done (you would need the web page open to direct them where it is and then they would have to go to consult a manager). 75p cheaper than an entertainment mix + SS.
Sky Sports 1 and 2 are available from Top Up TV for IIRC around £30 per month.[ Have you heard of FREESAT the SUBSCRIPTION FREE platform? Well this is the Freesat forum and it is not here for promoting other platforms. |

You get sky with the sports packages. Then don't forget the insurance after 12 months of having the box from new in case the box goes wrong. Then you might need one for the other room, then you now fancy sky1HD. What about the kids channels and a bit of national geographic. The lisdt goes on and on and you soon find out your parting with £60+ a month. If you can live with out sky sports, humax freesat is the choice for me every time.

[quote=Nigel Goodwin;49796026]Sorry, but the only 'liar' here is you, but I presume you're just sadly misinformed?.
[quote] Yes by the sky site itself which says you have to take and entertainment pack. Still it doesnt matter, SS alone is virtually the same price if you take the entertainment pack. |

So they charge you basically double to do it and only slightly less than getting the entertainment packs, yet another sky rip off, why isnt it £20?
