Okay so that confused me. Way to mess with my brain DS.
It's a bloody Monday Morning/Afternoon and I have had no sleep :yawn: (seriously has it ever occured to Christian that if he really wants a kid then he gets no more duvet days, like ever. C'mon Sy, if you don't want one then try pointing
that out. Hell I did (and do) want kids and I still spend large parts of my day looking at my bed and crying for its duvet covered splendour).
Three things:
1) so I've not been around but I popped my hjead round the door a couple of times and I have an ickle question...am I seriously the only one who hated the big man thing so much that I can't watch that scene and the thought of it kinda makes me shudder a bit? Like
seriously? Even Scottish Chryedians didn't just hear Weegie accents and wannabe hardmen and implied insults? Hmmmm......

2) right, I'm not a fan of Dad&Daddy Chryed, but I can suck it up for the greater good of screentime and angst. (that pic of Amy with Chryed? Does nothing for me. And yet
this pic kinda makes my ovaries do a little dance. What can I say, Alyson Hannigan and nerdy dress out outfits ftw). So what I would love to happen re adoption shiz is that
a) they get some homophobia from the agency. Cos that happens and I think it is important to show it. (cannot believe the crap that some lesbian couples I know have to go through to get fertility treatment. Seriously wtf?)
b) they address the race/religion aspect. It is well known that there is a serious inbalance in the racial/cultural backgrounds of wannabe adopters and potential adoptees, so in that regard Syed's race and religion could be a bonus to them. How would Christian react to that? I mean, Syed would want to bring up their kids to be Muslim right, and while I think Christian respects Syed's faith as something integral to him, that doesn't mean he would necessarily be totally onboard with that, especially as I think most of his melodraaaaama comes from this fear perhaps that he doesn't get this part of Syed and that it would feel like Syed and their child have this link that he is absent from. Furthermore, what would he think about circumcision for example? I know plenty of mixed faith/culture (and even same culture) couples where this is a massive issue. And I know EE covered this topic sooooo well and sensitively with Jodie/Darren
so maybe they'll address it here too? (yeah right, as if)
c) realistic age/background of child. What I would like (cos I am mean and like giving virtual bitchslaps sometimes), is for them to ask Christian what kid he would ideally like, and for him to say 'ickle healthy happy tiny baby girl (implied white)'. And for the adoption agency to say 'hahaha. No but seriously?' And for them to say, erm you do realise that you're looking at kids mostly with traumatic backgrounds, possible (mental/physical) health issues, in and out of foster care, predominantly non-white boys, from toddler age up. And you know, even at the risk of it being all Movie Of The Week, I could potentially like Chryed Deal With Hard Times Adopted Kid malarky, I mean, reconstituted families etc is what EE thrive on so it shouldn't be
too hard.
But I swear, if they end up with some perfect ickle bubba, nae bother, then I will...well probably curse a lot and that. And give up.
(I would like to point out that I had hopes that Surrogacy Farce would result in interesting issues, but given that Ronnie appeared to be the only one aware of any vague possible issue of race, the one line mention of religion and the very appropriate but randomly dismissed "but how would this all work with our jobs etc" 'discussion', my hopes for
any of the above being covered are slim to none.)

Okay, it's not Chryed and I don't know if anyone here is even vaguely interested let alone shipping the utter wonderfulness that is The Social Network (and if you don't want
Big Bambi Eyes Filled With Puppy Dog Love to be shagging his
Antisocial Genius Repressed Feelings BFF then I just...don't even know where to start.), but even if you aren't (
*coughfreakscough*) this fic is one of the happiest loveliest without being sappy or stupid things I have ever read. It is funny and hot and makes me puke rainbows and unicorns. It's an AU with one character working in a bakery so you don't need to know anything about the film, and it has the best ever use of emails and email subject headings ever in the history of ficage.
And it makes me insanely happy and I feel the need to share the love like some freakish Jehovah's Witness of Slash Fic.

Oh and so that this is totally OT, you just know that Chryed ship Mark/Eduardo and have convos about unrealistic and damaging father/son relationships that help to mess up your idea of relationships, and about acting out in jealousy and upset when hurt instead of, y'know, talking about things.
And we need someone *cough
Elphiecough* to write a bakery AU, it would be faaabulous. Syed could be running his family's bakery and Christian would go in each morning on his way to PT stuff, and make lewd jokes about things rising which Syed blushes about. And they could shag in the bakery which would have the added bonus of karmically punishing
vf for both her SR and her refusal to leave fic comments by making her unable to read it without having MJ/flourscene flashbacks. Bwahahahaha.
