Who is the 6th person on the beach?

Finally iTunes has released TIA in HD so I can watch it on a format other than iPlayer.

Firstly, despite what everyone says, when the Astronaut lifts the visor when meeting on the Doctor on the beach, you CANNOT see any facial features of the person within the suit. Forget what people may have speculated - Moff and the production crew are not going to make solving this mystery as simple as freeze framing our televisions at a pivotal moment.

The second thing of note is that there appears to be a SIXTH person on the beach watching the events take place.

Immediately after the astronaut lifts the visor we get a cutaway of Rory, Amy, River standing on the picnic blanket and we can see Canton in the distance beside his car.

However, directly behind Rory's shoulder you can make out what looks like a wooden shack... and standing right beside it is a dark figure standing there.

Could this be a member of the production crew or is this a future version of one of our heroes watching over the proceedings?

It is definitely a humanoid form and not a tree etc as you get to see it move it's arm in the split second it is on the screen.

If you have the episode you can witness it at 6:55 mins into the episode!

just watched the scene a few more times...

the person is clearly visible BEFORE the astronaut leaves the lake, just after Canton first drives onto the beach.

Is that 'hut' really a TARDIS??

Nope can't see it myself

You most certainly can see the outline of a person's lips for a fraction of a second when the visor is lifted if you pause it in the right place. There are screencaps of it around too. However, I wouldn't read too much into it - it may well just be whichever stuntman was in the suit for the purposes of the shot!

You can see the person behind the cabin for a lot of that scene. He can be seen bending down and appearing to talk to someone else. Based on his movements i'm fairly certain it's just an error and is one of the crew in shot, although I could be proved wrong.

Nice observational skills! Can you get a screenshot?

SusWho - I don't think they'd make the mistake of having a member of crew in shot so it'd probably be someone of significance... It is a bit of a schoolboy error if it isn't though.

I don't know I've seen it happen a few times in both American TV and Films (For example you can see a Camera man in the 24 TV movie and I believe one of the goofs in Gladiator is you see a crew member wearing blue jeans of one of the shots)

talking for some experience if your the director and working close with the editor you will mark on the editing software what take to use and due to being so drawn into the shot, weather it comes from great acting or whatever you'll fail to pick up something like that.

Wow! Time to go back and watch TIA again. It's like all the cloaked figures and odd happenings in Series 5...

the hut/cabin/shack etc is such a random prop put on the beach. I can't see any purpose for a crew member to be hiding behind it. Therefore I think we will revisit that beach scene again at some point this series.

Perhaps it's Jacob's cabin? LOL

Maybe it's the Silent Amy saw.

No, the head looks quite human. No oversized head on a tall body.

I know people will argue that it is someone from production, but what purpose would they have up on the beach anyway? It's quite a random location and I'm sure that when they shouted "Action" and started filming, all non-screen personnel would have been well out of shot.

I suppose that's true, I remember watching a TV show where the director was clearly visible in the back room... I think it's more the location that's making me think it might be something - it would've been pretty obvious someone was in shot. Though maybe they thought they'd get away with it because it has only really been noticed on HD.

See it now, hell of a spot, but a little too subtle perhaps? If it was something they wanted people to have a chance of picking up on (which they usually do with those things) it'd need to be a little more blatant wouldn't it?

It's not like it's in a throwaway scene though - the shack is in a very prominent place in an important scene. It would be a weird addition to the beach if it weren't important. Also from the series trailer, we know at least amy and rory are going back to past doctor's timelines, from the possible regeneration scene in the old tardis.

Have attached a pic for those that haven't seen it - in different scenes you can see the person's arm move from down by it's side to up in the air - http://twitpic.com/4s1kl7/full

The hut I agree, but the person? Less sure.

Wow, what an eye. I didn't even notice Canton was behind them on the beach at that point, nevermind an unknown third party so far in the distance.

I have a feeling it will be the yonger canton.....i do thisnk the person in the space suit will be the doctor and canton is there in the back ground to make sure it all goes to plan

I guess that in a later episode, we'll revisit this point and see whoever it was from their perspective and see whats going on. Then when people rewatch this, we can all gape in awe at how clever it all is, just as we did with The Doc's jacket from Flesh and Stone

Spoiler
Maybe DT's console is still in the TARDIS somewhere and they find it when they explore the TARDIS in The Doctor's Wife.

I don't think it is, it just wasn't in shot before. The "figure" is just something on the car I think.

I don't see it soz

Maybe they were filming two shots at the same time or it was a cameraman for Confidential?

Probably just something attached to the shack

EDIT: That said, in the third image... looks like a little arm 0.o

When you watch the scene, the 'figure' moves from arm down, to arm up to possibly crouched on the floor.

I like the theory that it's a young canton, overlooking the astronaut, possibly being the doctor himself.

That would work for me
