My fellow forum friends we are gathered here today in cyberspace to remember our old friend and constant tv companion BGT.

BGT brought much happiness into our empty saturday evening lives and much tears, tears of joy as dreams were realised and tears of despair as dreams were destroyed.

Never will we hear again the thunderous noise of those big red shiny buzzers which looked like they belonged on the nose of some giant clown!

Never will we hear again the heart rending sob stories :yawn: from the undiscovered 'legendary' talent!

Sob stories which would induce some of us to reach for a box of tissues while others it would induce bodily movements of a more base nature that might require a lengthy trip to the bathroom!

Let each of us pause for a moment and relect upon the near impossible task of remembering the numerous classic moments of the last series of BGT IN 2011!

A series that brought us a treasure chest of gems, and which constantly showcased the very best of the best of British talent.

rest in peace BGT we will now only remember you in our dreams.....

or our nightmares!

Aah.. obvious now you say it. lol. It has been poor this year.

Agreed with everything mogul122 has said. BGT used to be good but it is past its sell by date now like a lot of reality television.

The format has become old, out of dated, tired and boring and the producers have attempted to revamp it but all they have achieved is to make it worse in terms of the judges and contestants on it.

The contestants aren't up to much this year that's true. I nearly wet myself (not literally ) with excitement when that Ronan lad came on, the best thing by far this series. He should have been on the first episode (like Susan Boyle was) to wet people's appetites and keep them viewing.

And I have a feeling that even he wouldn't have stood out that much on previous years shows. It's just that the standard is so lame THIS year.

I don't actually mind the judges though, Michael McIntyre is quite funny and I rather enjoy The Hoff's out of it and not quite knowing what's going on face at times Actually liked Louis this weekend - and I never thought I'd say THAT

Its demise can't come quick enough for me. No one of any genuine, lasting talent has come out of it.

I could name 10 West End actresses who could sing I Dreamed A Dream better than SuBo for a start.

Paul Potts lost his USP when he got his teeth fixed.

The dance groups are too large and "of the moment" to make a lasting, profitable career.

Hardly any genuine stars like Opp Knocks or New Faces.

That's yet to be proven. Some acts are still doing very well for themselves (mainly from 2009).


Absolutely. I don't understand why people rave about her either; always found her extremely overhyped, but the fact still stands that she has done very well out of it. Talent doesn't infer success.


Diversity seem to be in the planning stages of their third tour (it has been confirmed by one of the members that there will be one, but dates are yet to be announced - not expecting them for a while yet, seeing as a 90 minute dance show will take much longer to put together than a singing one, especially as Ashley does all the choreo himself) - considering the majority on here were saying they'd be back to their day jobs after the Royal Variety, it's clear the extent of their success is commonly underestimated. As they're managed (or at least co-managed, not sure which) by Ashley's mum, I'd assume they're getting a much fairer percentage of their profits than Susan will be - of course, split between 11 people it won't be close to the amount that she's earning, but they appear to be doing pretty well for themselves in terms of money regardless.

Even Flawless had their own tour recently, and they didn't really come close to winning, though they were dancing for a living already.


I completely agree that the show has run its course now (unless the remaining audition shows are full of talent, with no filler or 'funny' acts whatsoever ), but the fact is, for the moment, that some contestants have maintained successful careers from it.

Forget the West End, I could name at least 20 actresses from my local amateur groups who could wipe the floor with SuBo. The only notable thing about Susan Boyle was that the first impression she gave was that she would be another of the people set up to be ridiculed by the baying mob in the audience. Her adequate voice alone in no way deserved the OTT reaction.

I think Diversity will continue to do well. Others will - probably unfairly - be seen as copying their style or fall into the novelty category. I've never liked the dog acts and cute kids either seem overwhelmed by it all or just in it to be cute kids.

This year we haven't seen anything as original as Signature, Stavros Flatley or even Kevin Cruise.

It's all a bit flat. I'm sure the talent pool isn't dry. But maybe we need a break.
