You would have been better doing a poll on type of apple, rather than colour. It's about the taste, after all.

Cox, Braeburns & Pink Ladys are my favourites.

Avoid Gala and Golden Delicious as they're too bland.

I found a wriggly maggot in a cox's years ago as a kid.

Never eaten one since......

I didn't eat it though (the maggot, not the apple)
think I cut it in half to find it (the apple, not the maggot)

I agree.

Granny Smith's can be excellent, while Golden Delicious are about the worst apple you can buy. There are some terrible red apples out there - big and foamy and tasteless, but Braeburns and Fujis are really good almost every time.

I find myself buying pink apples as a safe bet these days.
