'Catch a train with your mobile phone'

Article > http://uk.news.yahoo.com/000806/79/af8d6.html

quote:
Railtrack is developing a system that will let mobile phone owners find out if their train is running on time.

When it goes live travellers with mobile phones that support the Wireless Application Protocol (Wap) will be able to check travel details and see how punctual the trains are.

A Wap timetable service went live this week, and Railtrack is planning to make the other services available later this year

Yet another good idea!

If you have a WAP phone check out the WAP site from Railtrack at;

Scary to think that was 12 years ago.

It is scary that it was 12 years ago and things like that didn't even exist! Pretty mindblowing

There have been arrival/departure boards on the web quite a few years.

I for one do not want zillion of little apps serving me yet more ads.

Also amazing that 12 years ago this thread attracted no replies!

DS was a very different place back then, much much quieter. That said it was predominantly technology related back then so yes I suppose that is a bit of a surprise.

Think I got stuck on an 'apps are pointless' track.

Staying there, funnily enough some apps remind me of Wap.
