Most networks seem to be moving away from allowing you to downgrade during contract term. They either don't allow it, or will only allow it one step only during the entire contract these days

Vodafone customers who are on a your plan are unable to downgrade their plan at any point during your agreement, the only time you can do it is by entering into a new agreement (2 months before the end of your contract) or once your contract has come to an end.

Hi mikey86uk,

The advice that you have had in this thread already is absolutely correct.

If someone is on one of our Your Plan tariffs then they cannot downgrade to a lower plan at any time. If they are on one of our older plans, these can be lowered down one step at a time (each month) after being in contract for at least nine months.

If you want me to check your friends account for them, I will be more than happy to do so. They can email me here with WRT135 (FAO Heidi) in the subject.

Best wishes,

Heidi

I know this is not quite the same but I had two sims on my Voda contract. One was £20 a month for two years and a Nokia 5800 (mine). The other was a 12 month £10 sim only (my wife’s). They started 18 months ago so when I phoned up to cancel the 12 month contract as it was in my wife’s phone and she can only get an O2 signal at work and now has gone to Giff Gaff – Voda were fine doing this over the phone etc. I then later got a call offering from the cancellation people who were fine when I explained the reasons for cancelling but then offered me more minutes and more texts for £10 a month for my phone – so half price for more. The only catch was it was for 12 months so I suppose they would have got the same amount of cash out of me. I declined as come October I will either go Giff Gaff or go fancy dual core top of the range.
