The Apprentice is no longer about being an apprentice.
Quote:
"It's no longer a job, it's now a partnership in a business of their own choice," Lord Sugar explains. The entrepreneur, a screen star thanks to the show, has promised a cash injection of £250,000 into the winning candidate's chosen business, instead of a role at one of his companies. Why not remain it The Partnership? And how can you fire someone in an interview, that is something i have never got! Will he now have to say, 'sorry, but i don't want to do business with you, goodbye'. Talk about a cock up. |

"Why not rename it the Partnership?"
Because that's not an established brand. The successful candidate will be an apprentice, anyway. Lord Sugar's still gonna be taking him or her under his wing, so to speak. |

I think it would be brilliant if the winner just pisses away Sugar's 250G and is never heard of again

It stopped being the Apprentice after year 1.
I just don't understand why most of the past candidates applied to be Sugar's Apprentice when they had far better and more lucrative jobs already. Very few come away form this show with reputations enhanced, |

Frankly, if someone were paying some of the previous contestants 100k plus like they claimed, then those employing them needed fireing! |

Exactly how does this work. Do they choose the business or does Lord Sugar. And if its up to them shouldnt they be telling us in advance what its going to be. Anyway what kind of new business needs so much start up costs. Many of the candidates seem to have been in their family business so will this money go just to expand them.

Why make a point with two ludicrous candidates. I believe most of them had good and more lucrative jobs then Sugar could ever pay, or else we are breeding a load of unmitigating liars.
Funnily enough the ones with the fancy titles like stockbroker, lawyer, doctor or scientist never make it to the interview stages. |

I guess they must have a predetermined business in mind, i can't see a person winning then SAS saying, 'so what do you want to do?' and the reply being 'I think we should start an ice cream business in Alaska'.

Dont forget, Lord Sugar actually says:
“I’m going to inject £250,000 worth of cash and value into a business, your business, and you’re going to run it..." Therefore, we could assume the actual money invested will be far less, he'll be valuing his time in that figure, as 'value' added. |

Instead of pointing and going 'Your hired!' he could just stretch out his hand to shake and go 'Congratulations!' that would work fine for me.

So he wants you to start a new business from scratch. I still think the candidates should have to say in advance what it is going to be. Today its not as easy as it once was. Manufacturing is now hardly worth it. Unless they can find someone with a special skill or product, which I dont think these contestants can. Wholesaling or retailing someone else's, is already done. What we have here is 16 candidates without experience in a particular field trying to do it better than those with years of it. What bank would just give you this kind of money. At least the dragons which Lord Sugar will now become see a proper business plan and never so much money. What kind of consultancy or service industry could they be doing. All I can think of is opening a restaurant.

Reading all about the candidates and what they have to say, and what one can read into their words, not one is telling you what he really wants to do. Just to be another Gates or Branson. If you interview a candidate for a job isnt that the first question you ask him. They sound like or want to give the impression that they are all very 'hard' and I think this series will be the most 'bitchy' of the lot. |

I see I got it right it is a restaurant that one of the candidates has in mind. Looking at the video the dragons were not very impressed and didnt seem to believe him. They wouldnt even offer 10000 pounds and now he wants 250000 from Lord Sugar. HE WONT GET IT. |

Simon Cowell says the winner of X Factor gets a million pound contract.
Funnily enough he charges out his producers at a very expensive rate, so his version of what you get for a million quid is vastly different than ours. Likewise Alan Sugar. He's not giving you 250k in cash. He's probably giving you premises owned by him which he will absorb the rent of say double the normal going rate ........ etc etc. Everytime you ask him a question, its probably another £1000 to the bill which he 'pays' until the 250k is gone. |

Strangely, most of the candidates have never gone back to their lucrative line of work
http://www.howtobecome.info/forum/f2...-they-now-725/ Most of them seem to be on the celeb circuit.

I assume the interview round will be changed to be focused on them pitching the business they want to set up if they win.

Does anyone else think changing the format now is going to be a big mistake? I certainly do. I don't see how this is going to work whatsoever.
What happens if the winner and/or Sugar can't agree on the business? Does this not mean that Sugar will need to know in advance from each candidate what kind of business they want to set up? And does this not also mean the show will be open to claims of a 'fix' if Sugar starts keeping certain candidates in - his favourites i.e. those who have a business model Sugar likes and wants to get involved in if they become the winner? This definetely isn't The Apprentice to me! Please don't let this series suck!

One of the candidates works for Greggs bakery a very large and successful company. Perhaps others also presently work for similar large companies. If they are so good at their job and capable of going on their own with a large injection of other people's money, how is it they cant get their present rich bosses to supply it and need Lord Sugar for it. They all seem to think its easy. They most likely have read the books by Branson and others and think they can do the same all they need is a bit of cash behind them. The internet is today overcrowded, and any business based on it is doomed even if you get google to put you on the top of their lists. I am just trying to think where is the gap in the market at the moment which they all think they can fill. I suppose one of the tasks will be to invent a new product and make a prototype and try and sell it. This is always one of the hardest tasks and I suppose this will choose the winner.

They are mostly useless pillocks, which is why laughing at them and their "brilliance" is why we watch.
![]() Most of the enjoyment from the show comes from watching some plonker with an ego the size of a 3 bed semi brag on about their business genius and then cock up a basic task that a 12 year old could manage with their eyes shut. |
