How much are we talking, because it would have to be a hell of a lot for me to give up the likes of fillet steak!

Easily - I don't eat a lot of meat, as I really don't like cooking it. I@m pretty much vegetarian at home already. I'd miss bacon sandwiches and steaks though....

Dunno. How about you get paid what you would spend on meat in a week/month/year etc.

I could do it for a week or 2, for a few thousand pounds. But if it's my whole life and I had to, about 10 million would do!

I'd do it for a million but only if I could still eat chicken and fish like some veggy's seem to.

Only if it were temporary. To do away with meat would be to deny a whole lot of variation in my cooking. And bacon. Nommy, nommy bacon.

Thats kind of redundant because meat eater wanting to stop spending money on meat could just stop.

If I knew it was a for a period of time then I could...

Or if I was getting a weekly payment for being veggie then no probs.

I wouldn't be signing up for some 'go veggie until you are 80 and then we pay you' nonsense

Say you spend £20 a week on meat. If you stop then you may spend and extra £10 on other ingredients to compensate.
So you have saved £10 and then get paid the £20 that you would have spent on meat.

You gain £30 per week for not eating meat.

If it was only for a month or so I probably would I often have unintentional veggie days where I eat no meat, chicken or fish but to give it up for ever no way. I could not give up a ever eaten a bacon sandwich again for any amount of money.

As long as it wasn't forever. But I would ham it up (no pun intended) to hold out for as much money as possible, claiming I couldn't live without meat and that I was the complete anti-vegitarian. Then I would laugh when I have the cash because since I started weight watchers I don't eat a lot of real meat, mostly just Quorn. But I couldn't go forever without meat.

I spend more on food since I started cutting back on meat so that arguement isn't really going to fly. It'd be a lot cheaper for me to buy a few bags of frozen chicken breast/pork chops/tuna steaks etc... than it is for me eating the veggie stuff

Recently i've only been using chicken, fish and vegetables so I think I could easily do it. Would be nice to be allowed to eat one protein though. I could certainly go veggie if I was allowed seafood.

No way. Unless you're unemployed or desperate that's nothing.

Im not sure I could go a day without meat, let alone longer.

And why would anyone do that? It's neither an incentive nor adequate compensation, is it?

Possibly for 2 weeks but no longer (I wouldn't even attempt it for the whole of Lent!) and only then if it was made worth my while in dosh. Don't particularly eat a great deal of meat but I couldn't exclude it from my diet altogether...

I couldn't do it. I was veggie for about six months in the early 90's for health reasons and it was awful. I missed chicken and fish far too much and eating out was a nightmare.
