Video Problem
Santax

I have my Video hooked up to AV2, all by scarts.

I have Sky on AV1.. so when i hit Sat on the video remote it shows up on AV2.. without RGB.

But the picture i watch on AV2 is better than the recording it makes.. even when i use new video tapes.

What could be causing this pls?

Is your Sky box connected to your VCR via a SCART cable? From the sound of it, your AV2 socket isn't RGB, it's either SVideo or more likely to be composite. Watching a broadcast via compososite will be better than a standard VHS recording as VHS cuts the number of horizontal lines in half and you'll probably notice some shimmering amongst other quality issues.

recordings you make on VHS will always be worse than the original broadcast regardless of what tapes you use or how you connect it all up. VHS only has about 240 lines thats less than half the original broadcast so you are hgoing to lose some noticeable quality.

Your post is a bit confusing but it sounds like you are expecting RGB on the video? Well most VHS videos cant handle RGB or even Svideo most are limited to composite but bearing in mind the quality limitations this isnt really a problem.
