Apologies if this has already been mentioned either on the forum or, indeed, in the media.
One of the entries, on BGT, last weekend was an Irish singer/songwriter by the name of Herbie Armstrong. Straightaway I remembered the name as one of the people behind the 70's pop groups 'Fox' and 'Yellow Dog'. So I dug out my old vinyl and there he was on the covers large as life. Ok he had much longer hair and was 30 years younger, but it was definitely him.
Interestingly 'Fox' has featured on two of the TOTP re-runs on BBC4 with their last hit 'S-S-S-Single Bed' which 'Armstrong wrote.
So, despite claiming to have been always a session musician, he did have a couple of years in the limelight. He even had a solo single, 'Love Ship' which, although good flopped.
