Thanks to everyone who voted in Round Twenty Nine

If you haven't played a Survivor game before and would like to join in it's all very easy. All you need to do is cast your eye down the episodes listed below and decide which three of them you like the least.
Once you've sorted that out simply post your three choices on this thread or send them to me via Private Message, then sit back and wait for the results to be announced. It's as simple as that!
You can also send your choices to the succeeding rounds by typing ”auto”. Just remember that if one or more of your episodes is evicted then you’ll need to replace them to make them up to the required amount of three episodes.
Two episodes will be evicted at the end of each round. In the event of a tie, cumulative votes throughout the game will be taken into account.

It will probably come as no surprise to you to discover that the sole survivor of last round’s 3 way tie Utopia is out first this time around with votes from 36% of you.
In second place we have a four way tie with The Parting of The Ways, Silence In The Library, The Stolen Earth and Amy’s Choice all polling votes from the same amount of people. As always, the cumulative votes decide which episode gets evicted so claiming 17th place on the chart for 2011 is Amy’s Choice.

Game One (predict the Top Ten episodes)

Utopia was ranked in 8th place last year so it’s perhaps no surprise that a lot of you predicted it to retain its Top Ten placing this time around. Amy’s Choice was a slightly less popular pick with two of you predicting it for a Top Ten placing. So, the leaderboard now looks like this:-

01=) Ten Predictions Left

+ carefactornil
+ crazzyaz7
+ Fezzes and Ties
+ syramu

05=) Nine Predictions Left

14=) Six Predictions Left

+ themasterq8
+ Verence

Prediction Game Two (Predict the Top Three episodes from Seasons 4 and 5 plus the Top Three from any of the first three Seasons)

Five of you picked Season Three as your season of choice in this game and it’s well done to crazzyaz7 who was the only one of the five who correctly managed to predict the Top Three episodes in the season. The other 4 of you lose a point each as Utopia slides out of the Top Ten…..

01=) Nine Predictions Left

+ Abomination
+ carefactornil
+ clever chick
+ crazzyaz7
+ Fezzes and Ties

+ Gogfumble

The Play Your Cards Right Bit

Back in Round 13 Solid60 picked Utopia as the episode for you to think about. As mentioned, it’s fallen down the chart so this is how the leaderboard looks now.

The question for this round is:-

Q: Are you looking forward to this Saturday’s “Pirate” episode?
Do you find that you like historical stories more or less than the usual sci-fi orientated ones?
How many historical episodes should an average series of 13 episodes contain?

So, it's on with the game then. Time to pick your three least favourite episodes from:-

Season One

01) The Empty Child
02) The Doctor Dances
03) The Parting Of The Ways

Season Three

04) Human Nature
05) The Family Of Blood
06) Blink

Season Four

07) Silence In The Library
08) Midnight
09) Turn Left
10) The Stolen Earth

Season Five

11) The Eleventh Hour
12) The Time Of Angels
13) Flesh And Stone
14) Vincent And The Doctor
15) The Pandorica Opens

Boo to Utopia going out...

I also really wanted Silence in the Library to be 17th because it would have fitted in perfectly with the music i have selected from a video editing point of view!

Old Votes:
Silence in the Library
Blink

New Vote:
The Time of Angels - love this episode, especially the pre-credit sequence, picking now purely because i feel they should not have used the cliffhanger in series 5 trailer, as it dulls it's impact.

I am looking forward to a change of pace this weekend, though i doubt this episode will be in the same league as the first two were. I am sure it will be fun though.

I think one or two historical stories a year is a fair balance.

The Stolen Earth
Turn Left
Parting of the Ways

be good to have a bit of a breather after the last two episodes so having a historical romp will be most welcome

not objections to more historical based stories or their limit as it always comes down to the quality of the story but imo you have to make sure the balance is right.

I haven't played this for ages...

Human Nature
Family Of Blood
Blink

I am looking forward to the pirate episode, not so much on the basis of the opening two parter though. I don't think it matters how many history-based episodes there are in a series really, as long as there is still some kind of balance between types of story.

03) The Parting Of The Ways
07) Silence In The Library
10) The Stolen Earth

I wouldn't mind seeing some "pure" historicals ie ones with no science fiction involved apart from Doctor and the Tardis

As above exactly for me too. I'm stunned that Utopia is out so soon and I love a romp!

I didn't like Utopia much, so I'm glad it's gone Far sadder for me to see Parting of the Ways barely scrape through; that's a great episode. Anyway, my choices now are;

The Eleventh Hour
The Pandorica Opens
The Big Bang

As to historical episodes, some of my favourite stories have had a historical setting, but I've also seen some mediocre ones. I think the real issue is the quality of the story, not when it's set.

Stolen Earth
Turn Left
The Big Bang

I tend not to enjoy historical episodes as much, but that tends to revolve around the use of specific historical figures. Shakespeare Code, The Unquiet Dead are some of my least favourites. Possibly because they tend to contain more predictable humour relating to that character/setting.

The Unicorn & the Wasp and Vincent are notable exceptions.

Right my episodes are

The Empty Child
The Doctor Dances and
Flesh and Stone

With regards to this week, yes I am looking forward to it a fair bit but I'm even more eager to see the episode the week after, truth be told.
Regarding 'historical episodes', I think 2 or 3 a season - or 4 if one of them is a two-parter. Thinking about I'm a little disappointed that most of the episodes featuring a historical figure only happen to be 'one-parters' (eg. Dickens, Shakespeare, Churchill, Van Gogh etc.). A good two-parter for some of them now and again might be pretty good.
