Will Voda replace the handset?
Hey all. My mum has a Wildfire on contract with Vodafone. To put it easily, it's awful. The data (Both EDGE/3G) barely works, I'd say 1/10 times it'll actually manage to do anything like loading Facebook/Friendstream/MMS's without either just timing out or crashing, and people can barely hear you on the phone.
I've restored and updated the phone several times, still the same. I rang Vodafone, several times and each time they had no idea I'd rang previously, and I kept having to be re authed to speak on my mums behalf. They initially blamed the signal issues on a transmitter fault, but then dodged when I asked them which one it was so I could look on the OFCOM website. I've gone around in circles with them, and even with the WRT, all they're going to offer to do is replace the SIM(which I doubt would change anything), which is kinda out of the question unless a retail shop could do it there and then for us, as the phone still needs to be used as a phone at all times, but the WRT/Phone team couldn't guarantee that. All the APN's are correct. I know its not a high spec phone, but it seems to struggle to do all but call and text for us, and we're getting pretty annoyed with paying for services we cant use, and Vodafone just not listening properly, their initial response was just 'Well...want to buy a sure signal?' Is there anything else we can do? Thanks. |

If you are on Vodafone, try your Mums SIM in your phone and try your SIM in her phone and see if you still get the problem.
Does you Mum still get the same problem everywhere, or only at home ? If the phone is faulty and you have a contract, Vodafone offer a free repair. |

Go to a store and get a new sim.
It doesn't usually take any longer than 5 minutes to complete, then try it in the handset. While you are in store with your Mum have them put a special instruction and password on the account, this gives you authority whenever you call. I would start with the sim first, a lot of the time if this is faulty it will affect call quality and data transfer. At least allow Voda to try to sort the issue out, if they don't then by all means have a rant but you havent actually allowed them to start. |

Hi chris..,
I am sorry to hear that your mum is experiencing these issues with the phone. As you have mentioned in your post that you have been in contact with our team before, do you have the email reference number from the emails? I would like to help get this issue resolved once and for all. Many thanks, Heidi Web Relations Team Vodafone UK |
