Hi Guys

Couldn't get online yesterday, but all has gone well.

Didn't get much sleep last night as I kept waking to find Barney wanting a cuddle.

He seems to have settled in very well, got out of his basket straight away when I brought him home, and was soon exploring(I only live in a studio, so let him explore all the rooms yesterday)

My boyfriend was out when I brought him home, but took to him straight away(that cat is a bad judge of character ), my boyfriend said that he was woken by Barney nibbling his toes.

Think Barney is under the bed at the moment, seems to be eating ok, loves his Dreamies, but has not yet gone to the toilet, which I am a little worried about, he knows where the litter tray is.

That's lovely. Barney seems to have settled in very quickly.

I looked after my friend's cat recently, in my house, and she didn't use her litter tray for at least the first 24 hours (may even have been a bit longer). I was worried but she went eventually! She also didn't eat for the first day or so. It's all due to the stress of being somewhere unfamiliar. Barney's doing well to be eating and interacting with you so quickly.

Will he have access to outdoors eventually?

Just make sure it's a litter that he's familiar with - cats do not like changes in litter. I changed my litter once to wood shaving/pellet things, and Suki promptly showed her disgust by crapping behind the sofa.... Back to CatSan for me!

Lovely to hear that Barney is settling in so well.

Cat's don't go to the toilet as much as us humans, apparently their kidneys are designed to concentrate their urine so they go less frequently (that's what I was told when my old cat got kidney failure)

And Orangebird, I know what you mean about them being particular about their litter. I had the same happen to me when I dared to change from cheap cat litter to something a bit nicer.

Its quite bizarre though - the girl cats have been way fussier than the boys cats!

Aww sounds like puss is owning you....

I always remember when I got myTed (rspca) rescued puss, just after my little girl died....beautiful big tabby boy with long white sleeves.. He'd been with me one day and my friend popped round, Ted was on the sofa my friend popped her head round the door (didnt want to frighten puss) and there he was layed out fast asleep....so lovely....

Aww (RIP my Ted)

Awwww Barney sounds just wonderful. You must be over the moon with him.

When I rescued my Lily (rspca) she ate straight away and by day 3 she was up on my sons high bed alongside my other cat! Talk about make herself at home!!!

Very chuffed for you.

Barney is getting on fine, though yesterday he bit me on the hand, was just stroking him, and mentioned the vet word, and that was it, won't be mentioning that word again

He also went outside(not my idea), I was at work, and when I got home my idiot boyfriend said he took him outside, to the grass just outside the flat, luckily Barney didn't run off, and came when my boyfriend called him, but believe me I gave my boyfriend hell.

Barney also used the litter tray which I am really pleased about I was getting worried, but boy does he do big poos

Oooh congratulations.

We did get Winnie a little bed, but she has never slept in it. She slept in a cupboard where all of the golf clubs are kept (I have no idea why, but I guess it's all snug)

We got her a litter tray, some toys (she only played with them for about a week. tin foil is better, screw it up and throw it around and you have a very happy cat! )

I agree but it always ends up under sofas and armchairs. My Tabitha lost interest in toys as soon as she discovered there were mice and birds outside. She liked chasing string, though, right up to her later years.

Oh yeah it does. tin foil is forever ending up under the sofas because of winnie, bless her. One thing I have noticed, is that she doesn't let the kittens play with foil, it's hers.

I might try with them again in the next few weeks or so.

strangely when we first brought Milley, home it was the shiney plastic litter tray she didn't like rather than the wood chip litter we were using - but we use Catsan to. I've been pretty fortunate that both the cats I got from the rehoming place settled in instantly despite me already having a grumpy cat who was far from impressed by the new arrivals.

Hi, how can I attach the pics?

We had a little bit of an accident this morning, he had pooed on the carpet in the bathroom, and the night before did a wee in the corner of the bathroom.

Hoping he is just doing it because the litter is running a little low in the tray(getting him some litter later), and I think he is getting bored of being indoors.

Still another 4 weeks before I can let him out, so ordered a harness so at least I can take him out when it comes.
