Mine is red leicester but I am particularly interested in people recommending less common cheeses as their favourite nibble.

Sorry - but the answer is St Agur

its a cheese sans pareil, even though it is French. deliciously creamy and blue, but not TOO blue, if you know what I mean - not a Danish, or a Roquefort, or even a Dolcelatte. Not a blue brie, And not too soft either

Sorry it's French but it is the best. Without doubt.

Cheddar - Grew up eating mild orange cheddar
Now like extra mature strong cheddar. Taw Valley Tickler was the last I had. Very nice.

Dorset Red - it's not too strong or weak. Great hot or cold

Stripey Cheese(Five Counties), it means I don't have to choose just one to have I can have all five.

Lots.
Cheddar, halloumi, ossau iraty, parmesan, manchego amongst others.
It depends what sort of mood I'm in.

I like a nice Irish Cheddar, all creamy and just the job on toast.
But I think my favourite is a nice crumbly Cheshire. It doesn't melt on toast, it just goes a bit soft and gooey.

Why on earth is Cheddar not a protected designation - like Champagne, and Stilton.

Irish/Canadian Cheddar my arse.

There is only one cheese that stands above all others

Roquefort

The rest is just melty stuff for toast end of or to put on your beans.

Sorry this thread is now redundant

I don't see how anyone can just say 'cheddar' - as there are so many different types and brands. The best stuff like Mongomery cheddar is sensational, but the worst stuff like the cheap rubber slabs in supermarkets are awful.

Either camembert or Sakura cheese. I love both equally.

I always used to say Stilton, but now it is the super-aged two year old Gouda, which is only available in Holland.

Stilton or Camembert, Camembert must be made with un-pasturised milk.

Also love Stichelton, which is like stilton, only made with un-pasturised milk.

Used to enjoy Roquefort but find it too salty now, current cheese of choice is Shropshire Blue

AND its not cows milk, so it's been disqualified.

I love many different types of cheese, and as a youngster could often be found munching on a slab of it from the local shop on the way home from school.

I find though that despite the many delicious variations on offer, at Christmas time when I am presented with a lovely cheese and port set, I always find myself wondering why I don't buy Double Gloucester more often.

Wensleydale with Cranberry

Favourite cheddar is Royal Canadian

I'm a real lover of all cheeses though, it's the only food I miss now I'm pregnant!
