Actually the spaces between 30 and 20 are only a few thousand sales. Its only when you get to the top 15 that you have to move bucket loads to chart higher.

She hasn't sold enough for a big comeback single. Its a very bad performance.

To be fair though, Beyonce's song was in a higher position than Gaga's for most of the week and it hasn't been out as long. I really don't like RTW though (and I'm not the only
one). I think Beyonce should just act like it never happened IMO.

Agreed on all counts. I just meant that the inherent crapness of RTW may cause a bit of bitterness that Judas didn't beat it (although Judas isn't that much better IMO, but still better). I know which song I prefer.

She is not on shakey ground at all. I dont like the first two singles but even i know that the album will sell in its millions.

Don't really see the point in the last one, nobody's ever watched Daybreak. I can only assume they convinced Gaga's people otherwise!

All the others will be very good promo.

Born This Way (single) didn't underperform, it just so happened to coincide with Adele's Brits performance which unexpectedly went viral and outsold everything by about a million. It had very, very high sales and is still in the chart three months later. So yes, you can dress it up a different way.

Lady Gaga is supposed to be the biggest popstar on the planet. Nothing should be stopping her from massive single sales.

She is still selling loads so its not like she is going to be dropped anytime soon. And Born this way was number 1 in the U,S which is her main market. And 3 over here as i just checked wiki. Plus number 1 in about 10 other countrys. So i dont know how this is flopping?????

It hasn't. Born This Way is one of the biggest sellers of 2011. It just so happened to be released at the same time as the biggest seller of the year.

Had BTW dropped earlier on in that week, she'd have soared easily to #1, seeing as she sold 60k at the drop of a hat in 2 days and Chipmunk was at 90k (I seem to remember).

We all know the story of the Brits. Adele stole the show, and Jessie J got a boost of popularity too which has rolled on for months now.

Because BTW was overshadowed and didn't return at #1, people have decided she's flopped here ever since. The radio probably weren't as enthusiastic with picking up Judas because of that, and subsequently people aren't being told to go buy it.

It's a series of unfortunate events, really.

Well, to be fair, I think the lukewarm public reaction to Judas does have something to do with it, but the points you raise are true, definitely.

And let's not forget that BTW went massive in the US, which is after all, her target market, not us.

No they have not. Well Born this way has not underperformed. Singles are now released differently and so by no stretch of the imagination has it not done well.

But are singles not available to download straight away now ? . So i think this hurt born that ways sales without any video out at the same time. The same has happened with Judas.

It would have been a straight Number 1, if it hadn't been unlucky enough to be released on the same week as one of the biggest songs of recent years, by an artist who is also one of the biggest in the world now. People keep telling you this and it's a perfectly good excuse.

BTW is the 6th/7th top selling song this year and has sold more (nearly 400k) than Whats My Name, Champion, On The Floor, We R Who We R etc. this year. All of which I'm sure we'd consider hits. They've all charted higher than BTW.

Obviously BTW was no Bad Romance, but we can't continue expecting that kind of stratospheric success with everything she touches. Especially when there was no promotion.

OK I'm just going to get straight to the point:

1. Born This Way would have been #1 had Adele not done that fantastic performance of SLY at The Brits. It's still one of the biggest selling songs of the year, and not having a #1 does not equal flop.
2. Radio has been reluctant to play Judas because of Easter. It also stalled quite a bit due to being out for a longish time without a video. But for the video to have over 10 million views in 2 days and cause Judas to jump from #30 to #20 clearly shows that she is not "on shaky ground," in fact she is far from it.
3. Edge of Glory is a song which is set to top BTW and Judas anyway in terms of how good the song will be, for it to be released as a promo single will no doubt help her future album sales.

Most of the people who say she is flopping are probably either: delusional and thought the Judas video would make her jump straight to #1 right away which would be virtually unachievable...or say that because BTW wasn't #1 in the UK that she is a failure. Which is incredibly narrow minded.

Is 'Edge of Glory' being released in the UK as well? UK itunes very rarely has that countdown single thing, and I havent heard confirmation in terms of when the single will be released GMT. Just wondering! Sorry if this question has already been posted!
