Hi guys!

Basically my contract with O2 is finishing in the next few weeks and i was thinking of getting my hands on a HTC smartphone. Im abit of a novice when it comes to smart phones and i was just wondering which HTC phone is the best. Been looking at the desire and incredible series....i like the look of the desire z but ive heard that the HD is a better phone..thanks for your help in advance!

Worth holding fire until the new HTC Sensation appears (later this month or early next), then you'd have the newest model available.

Got to agree - you will be timing it right to get the Sensation.

It also depends on what you want to pay. I got the wildfire because i did not want to pay a fortune for the contract, the more expensive the phone is to buy the more your subscription is.

The Sensation could be a nice phone, but the phone providers could add another £10 a month on top of their contracts for it.

Just had a look at the vodafone website and the Sensation is free on contracts from £35 a month and what you get for that £35 is not that great.

thanks for the feedback guys! The Sensation looks like a great phone and i dont really mind waiting a few weeks for it..... the problem is that its a little out of my price range! I was looking for around £25 a month. any chance the price will drop in the upcoming couple of months?

HTC HD7 and Mozart on O2 are around your target price (one slightly above, one below). Though they are Windows Phones not Android phones.

Depends on what network you are on, but I think they are all more or less the same. I get 300mins talk time, 500MB data and unlimited text for £25 with the HTC Wildfire on Vodafone.

TBH the phone is fine, ok it is at the lower end of the HTC Android range but it works well, sometimes it can be a bit sluggest, but I think that is mainly due to content being refreshed more than the phone CPU power.

Considering that I was never really interested in getting a smart phone, I am happy with the device.

I've got/had the Wildfire, it kept being temperamental and I would have the occasional limited signal. I put it down to o2 at first but then tried other phones and they were fine. It then kept flashing up that the date and time needed setting whenever the signal went so I took it back to carphone warehouse as have only had since Oct and they reckon it's suffered water damage due to an indicator strip being red inside. I'm pissed right off as it hasn't come into contact with water yet they say my warranty is now void and won't repair.

To be honest. You can get a HTC Desire free on a £20 month contract from Orange now. Go for that as a first phone. If you fall in love with Android and HTC consider a more expensive phone in the future.

I've had one for a year and love it. Yes I'm about to upgrade to a sensation, but its gunna cost me!

That is Car phone warehouse for you, I would not use them if they was the last place on earth.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the phone, my phone have been fine, sure there is the odd glitch, but everything we buy these days seems to have the odd flipping glitch in it.

It depends on what you get for your £20 a month, i just had a look at Orange and the £20 a month package you got to pay £99 for the phone if you go for the Desire.

Android is nice to use the only problem with Android is that it belongs to Google. But then it seems all Phones these days want to know what you are doing and where these days

HTC Desire is a good phone, had mine some months now, still cracking! Android does indeed beling to Google, but the iphone system bleongs to Apple, and if you read some statements, Iphone/Apple know exactly what you are doing, when you do it and where you are !

Thanks, despite the problem I've had I did like the phone and had the same attitude in regards to the glitches, I think it was why I kept putting off returning it.
I'm waiting for it to go back to the store for collection then will go down the "Sales of goods act" path. If that's no success then a shop in town said they'll take a look for free and give an estimation on repair and i'll see whether it's worth taking a gamble.

HTC makes some pretty decent phones, even if my first HTC phone was a bit naff, but the Wildfire for the price is a great phone, ideal for people who wants a smart phone, but don't want to spend a fortune.

Apple is not like Google, ok so they had that problem on the Iphone that suppose to track you. the problem is Google does it all the time even on the internet.

Still I knew what I was getting into when I got the phone, I decided to switch loctaion off, that was too creepy

here's the desire on orange £20 a month + free phone http://www.mobiles.co.uk/orange-htc-desire.html

Then call orange and ask them to match the price. That's what I did. I don't like car phone wearhouse/mobiles.co.uk deal direct and ask to price match, or you'll go to o2/Voda etc.

Fair enough, a lot of people can't be bothered to do that.
i myself is not looking for another phone, I just got the wildfire and got another 22 months to run,

Not sure what I will do when the contract comes tot he end, the phone will be out of date by then, but if it is still working I may then go back to a Sim only contract.

I will stay with Vodafone they got the best network around here,

and my experience of HTC Android is completly opposite never frozen up once or had to reset it since the day I got it. and its 13 months old now
my wife also has a Desire and it has locked up once in 9 months
yet my 2 previous windows phones were a total nightmare having resets every day and most days twice a day or more
