When Amy and Rory leave (which may be a while), which female companion do you want cast after them?

Personalily, I think Lacey Turner should do it. She is an amazing actress, will do emotional scenes really well (which Karen Gillian is crap at imo, Billie Piper and Cath Tate were brill at it) and probs will work well with MS.

Keira Knightley or Emma Watson.

Sorry, but what!? I agree about Tate, but Piper is a crap actress, and Karen is one of the most capeable actors ive ever seen. Way underated, with all the emotion she fits into a scene.

No, I dont have a crush on her. Why would you say that?

Never considered Lacey before, but I agree she would be brilliant. I like The Doctor having a 'team' though, so there should be more than two companions, like River, Amy, Rory and Canton in the first two episodes of this series.

Even before actually reading this thread, I thought of Lacey Turner. She's proved in Eastenders her versatility really well and as you say, one amazing actress. If she did do it though, I wouldn't want her to be like Stacey, I think she would need to bring something different to it to get away from that role.

I never watch Eastenders, but she was in Being Human. She was OK, but I wasn't amazingly impressed.

If only Sheridan Smith hadn't already been a companion to the 8th doctor! She would be perfect!

She was quite good in two episodes of the most recent season of Being Human

I'm not so sure about that. I saw her in Being Human and she played much a Stacey Slater character in it. I'm no fan of Eastenders and I may just be too acustomed to seeing her as Stacey (my mum is a massive fan so I always have to endure it when I am at home) but I thought the character was just too much like Stacey. But there you go.

I have to agree, the Doctor rarely had just the one companion and he had both male and female companions before RTD. I am loathed to seeing the old companions back - particularly as RTD brought them back to death. The only one I would ever consider forgiving Moffat for returning would be Jack Harkness as he was/is such a versatile character he would be a good companion for the Doctor, particularly Matt's Doctor. I would like to see him meet River Song - now that could be a very interesting meet. Other than that I guess the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch (who played Sherlock in the BBC adaption) and could make a good contemporary of the Doctor's. Having said that I think Benedict Cumberbatch would make a pretty good Doctor himself.

Tilly would be pretty funny.

Doctor: And the way I'm going to save the world is...

Tilly: Bear with...bear with...bear with...

Seriously, I'd quite like either Lacey Turner or Sheridan Smith. Think they'd both be pretty good, though Lacey would work better with an older Doctor IMO.

I agree Karen is great, but Billie was excellent too.

My unrealistic dream would be Gillian Anderson...that'd be amazing, and would also appeal to the American audience as well.

More realistically, Amanda Burton (as a slightly older companion would work well) or Anna Louise Plowman (who played Goddard in 'Dalek, Series 1' - she's a capable actress capable of English and American accents Or Lucy Brown (Claudia/Jenny in Primeval) who is also highly capable...she may be my favourite choice.

She was never a companion on the TV series though. There's no reason why they have to treat other mediums as canon, even though many fans regard them as such. I don't see why Sheridan couldn't do it if they wanted her and she was willing.

I'd go for Anjli Mohindra playing Rani from SJA as next female companion, since it doesn't look like SJA will go on after Lis Sladen's death. Failing that, Claire Foy.
