Only if she gets killed by a dalek in her first 2 minutes.

i would turn off if sheridan was cast, she was awful as JC's companion.

Miranda would be hilarious, they should do this for cin.

I agree I like the team thing.

I hope the next companion is someone not from current time, they should bring someone from the past as a companion.

I think the female companion must be good at both comedy and particulary serious drama (particulary good at emotional scenes).

If Lacey is doing it, she must be different from Stacey I agree.

I actually prefer the doctor and female companion dynamic in most episodes, it's the dynamic that I'm used to and know. It's love having team in a few eps in a series (finale especially), but most of the others should be the doctor/female companion dynamic imo.”

You haven't seen her in Flare Path then, acts the rest of the cast off the stage.

For a kick ass slightly tom boy "watcha" companion - Lenora Crichlow

For humour - Miranda Hart

For a lovely welsh accent and something different - Joanna Page

For another Mrs Robinson older woman holding her own - Miranda Richardson.

But please, please, please no one who fancies or pines after the doctor - unless they want to keep River but I think I like that relationship because of the mystery and because she is not always there...

Oh forget Lacey Turner - she only acts one character!
(Sorry EE fans but it's true)

I'd like to see someone like Charlotte Bellamy (Laurel in Emmerdale) take on the role. She would be a decent 'chalk & cheese' sort of character (like Donna was).
She's good at both comedy & drama too!

Miranda Richardson would be brilliant!

Miranda is a fail. She isn't funny at all, and I would honestly not watch, even if it was just a Cameo or CIN. How do people find her funny?

Hart or Richardson? I think both are funny but I can see how Miranda Hart might be an acquired taste but miranda richardson...well for me she is comic genius...re Queenie black adder...

Gillian Anderson.

Or cast her as the Rani with a working Tardis.

Actually, in fact I think I'd like to see Miranda Richardson as The Doctor and Gillian Anderson as the companion. That would be my perfect pairing. Just have a craving to see two female leads.

Oh Gillian Anderson would be great...keep the red hair theme...

Lily Cole, in the same role she played tonight. Have her say nothing, just change colour according to her mood. A quiet companion would be a pleasant change, and no parents/partner to clutter the mix.

Seeing as they tend to pick actresses that have aleady stared in the show, i think Lenora Crichlow would be perfect as long as she is similar to how she is as annie in being human and not how she was in gridlock

Liz Smith or June Whitfield!

But someone earlier said someone from the past. That woukld add a brilliant new dimension to the show!

Right, as a kind of tribute to Elizabeth Sladen, what about having Luke, Clyde Rani and maybe even Maria from the SJ adventures. The Doctor could decide after her funeral, which they're bound to do somewhen to take them on a little trip, enjoy having them in the Tardis and ask them to stay. This would also bring over the older viewers of the SJA, the ones who had grown up as the series went on, we would see it from a slightly different point of view as well as they're a little younger than previous companions.

Do they? What was Martha in? Or Donna? Or Amy?

Martha was in the Doomsday 2-parter as a different character, Adeola (later explained as Martha's cousin).

Donna was in The Runaway Bride as herself.

Amy was in the Pompei one as a soothsayer.

I say Liz White (Annie from Life on Mars) or if they could afford her Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck.

As long as it's not James Corden as the next companion, the Doctor could be paired with a talking turnip with handlebar moustache for all I care.

I think it would be nice for another unknown to be cast, just as Karen was. I love seeing new faces on TV

Gina Belman, playing a version of Jane from Coupling, mad, sexy and self obsessed, with the big reveal being that (as with Zaphod in HHG2TG) that she is the most important person in the Universe!
