Lauren this is getting boring, all we do is agree lol. I feel like I'm having a conversation with myself.

Having more Kean scenes would make the world of difference, and a Slater sister would also be great but yeah, they need to do something. Anything, because if I have to see one more scene where Kat is sitting at home with a baby, I'll pull my hair out. They may as well have not brought her back if that's what they were planning to do with her. She absolutely needs someone to bounce off of. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm actually starting to come around to the idea of recasting Zoe.

But no, seriously, this thread would hate me if I took over EE because the first thing I'd do is have Kat's new little family wiped out somehow in a big disaster and start her off from scratch lol.

New part

I'd love you! Which is why I love it when your in here posting because otherwise I just have to justify my concerns about Alfie and Tommy to this bunch of Kalfie mad fans who I wouldn't change for the world but it doesn't really work just makes me look like a moany biatch! But yes glad we agree, it's a shame that I end up just wishing they hadn't brought her back oh well though what can we do ey, I just cross my fingers Jessie is at EE for the long haul now and when someone who actually gets the character takes over we'll have a new side of her to explore. As long as the new producer whenever he/she comes doesn't base Kat on what we've had this past year and think that's who she is

Problem right now is the writing is so unimaginative, I can see them giving Kat an affair storyline which would just... Ughhhh annoy the hell out of me. Especially if it's with Michael.

Actually Michael is another one they've totally gotten wrong with Kat. And I mean right now, not just at the beginning because in the old days, Kat used to really call everyone out on their shortcomings like Trevor and Gary, just casually whenever they'd say something. But all she seems to do is smile and be nice to Michael, it's not the same person!

Re: Family Kat - I'm sure if Kat had stayed in EE beyond 2005 they'd have made her and Alfie parents before too long. Weren't they actually going to do a Who's The Daddy with Alfie and Andy? at one point in 2004? Thank gawd that was scrapped.

My point is, I think they were always going to end up giving her a baby at some point. I actually don't have a problem with it personally, as long as her whole character doesn't become defined by it. As I said before, I'm sure the baby will vanish before too long anyway. But characters do need to grow and evolve and change. Kat going out partying and living it up was fun to watch before, sure, but she's older and married now. She's bound to mature a bit. I'd hope so anyway. I don't just want to see characters doing the same things and making the same mistakes over and over again.

I actually remember us moaning when she first came back that she hadn't matured, that she shouldn't be partying, she should be taking care of the baby, blah, blah, blah. Now we seem to have come full circle and are complaining that she should be out partying and not taking care of the baby, lol.

I remember complaining the other month when she jumped when Michael shouted and then jumped in the Kitchen when Alfie shouted, Old Kat would have gave them both a slap

BIB: But you see you just highlighted the problem. Kat's character is already defined by the complete opposite so giving her a baby absolutely changes the definition of her character. Kat is not supposed to be a mother. She never got to be a mother which is why she was protective of her sisters and stuff but when you take that away from the character, you change their whole role and purpose entirely.

But then, I do agree about the character evolving as long as the character is going in an interesting direction. Kat was never desperate to have a child she's not like Sharon Watts or Ronnie Mitchell, she was desperate to prove herself to Zoe as a mother, but she was always her big sister. Sharon and Ronnie just always wanted a baby whereas Kat already has a daughter she can love... Hm... I don't know, I just think that giving Kat a baby is a huge mistake.

No I do see what you're saying and I don't have a problem with her maturing but she could have matured so much better, you'd think she would have matured into a warmer more open person not bitchy and cold, it's like she immatured lol.

RE clubbing/partying/drinking, that's just because when she came back she was pregnant I didn't want her to party with a bump when she hadn't even re-established herself yet so it looked like she didn't care about the baby. In between the swap and reveal would have been the idea time for clubbing, going off the rails etc, obv I don't want her to just leave tommy with Alfie and randomly go clubbing now. But at the same time I don't want to sit and watch her coo over a baby but we don't really have a choice because she's going to for a while now, I just feel they've written her into a corner. We'll see though..

Jack got off with rancid Rainie, Dot hired a carer and made peace with Carol, Vanessa got a job in the Vic, Julie met Billy's kid/Kat took Tommy out for the first time and Tanya returned. Some stuff did happen. Just none of it happened to be very interesting.
