Have a great Saturday everyone!! As normal, I am off to hide as won't get on the computer till its way to close for teh show to air over there so will be catching up on probably a LOT of pages when I get on after it airs here in the States. My 4yr old cannot wait - he's so very much into Pirates at the moment so his vote is already "Doctor Who is Amazing!!" lol

I think Lily Cole was an inspired piece of casting. She looks so otherworldly and alien, a female version of Matt Smith

i agree with that, i have been impressed by how her character is realised on screen as well.

I get the impression this more a cheap and cheerful episode, and a bit of a romp, but I think we need a change of pace after the opening story, and I look forward to a bit of daft fun!

Looking forward to it too - although once again as its slap bang in the middle of the bedtime routine its Sky+ and watch later, as well as checking its not too scary for the little ones. Eldest daughter has asked if she can watch it with us this week

Mind you we are forecast heavy thunderstorms between 4-10pm so we'd better not lose power or satellite signal!!!

Looking forward to something a bit less intense but it seems as though there will still be a few teasers thrown in there to add to previous 2 episodes.

Looking forward to a bit of light relief this week and some buckle swashing. One we can let the under 8's watch as well, which is preferable to trying to drown out their squabbling upstairs.

Which mysterious woman? I don't think you mean the Lilly Allen character since we haven't seen her before? (Right?)

So who?

I think the reference was to
Spoiler
the woman in the eyepatch who we saw briefly in TDotM and is supposedly going to appear again in today's episode.

This is the first episode of the series 6 that i've actually been able to watch as it airs Can't beat a good romp now and then, so i'm pretty excited!

oh i really hope so. there probably will be a couple of little things that will add to the mystery, but from the look of the trailer it looks like a good old fashioned swashbuckling romp.

Sheesh, if it wasn't for the thought of pirates I wouldn't be that excited with two hours to go

IIRC this episode was going to be part of the second run, and they moved it because they felt the first run would be too arc heavy, so I guess this is quite light hearted compared to the opener.

I have to admit, I can't wait for it.

It was swapped with the Gatiss episode with the scary dolls, which i must admit I was/am really looking forward to, but I think it was less to do with the story arc (because one imagines that the Gatiss episode itself must be stand alone in itself to enable the swap) and more because they felt that as it stood the first half of the series was a bit on the dark side and needed lightening up a bit.

That makes sense - I do think something light hearted is needed after the opener!

Just read on cultbox about this and they had to rewrite the ending to make it make sense as it was originally meant to be the 4th episode of this series so perhaps The Doctor's Wife was originally the 3rd episode and this has also been shunted back.
