How come them black lads sang quite a bit better in tune the second time around? That smelt a bit like a set-up there. Amanda must have taken the place of Simon for a bit when she stopped the music. Hmm.

I agree, but don't think they were good enough to go through to the next round. I'm waiting for the day when an act says "actually that's our only song." It won't ever happen.

This happened last week too. It's so unbelievably contrived.

Ah yeah, I'm not saying they harmonised great, just they had improved quite a bit when compared to their first attempt.

Agreed. I said on another thread the other week that it was one of the reasons I was glad Simon was no longer in the show.
Then Amanda does it two weeks running.

The second time they sung they werent all that anyway. Michael was telling the truth when he said they werent the best. IF they entered X-factor they would be out after bootcamp.

I though they were pretty poor both times and how they got through boggles my mind. It's the age obviously don't see many kids told no since little Hollie on this show these days

How else would you describe them? Everyone is so picky over certain words on this site. Anyway, I thought they were moody crap black kids.

There's nothing at all wrong with describing black people as black.

Totally agree. They were obviouxly told to go out and sing badly. AManda would then ask if they had another song - pause - yes - another pause - lets try it. Hey presto a much better song. Just like Herbie Armstrong last week.

Although I have to agree neither were very good with 2nd song, but talent so thin on the ground both put through

They look good and I was expecting them to be good. Unfortunately they weren't. To me it's like they haven't practiced enough together.

Yep, didn't see that one coming, did we? Nor the 'stunned silence' from the audience when Amanda stopped it, shots of anxious parents chewing their lips, comforting mumbles from Ant and Dec, and the rapturous applause once the 'amazing' second song was sung. Not seen this format before have we?

Exactly. They were black, so I called them black.

What's wrong with calling them black? It's a politcially correct term, would you moan if they were scottish and the OP said those scottish lads?

Why not...?
That seems pretty accurate & descriptive to me...living in the 70's?.... so what...?

I remember many saying about that "fat Greek bloke and his fat son"...whats the difference...?....tall ginga singer is also just as descriptive IF its accurate and fits...?...

Personally I would have described them as those UNtalented Black Lads...most school have a bunch like them anyway...

Insulting the audiences and the TV audiences intelligence

Most of us could write the script

Why do they even try to do it anymore?

I would have said "those black lads' voices ..."

I think we all sat there watching them walk out thinking Jackson Five (well, four) and the fact that they weren't particularly good failed to compute for a few seconds. The judges' comments were spot on.

But they were a million times better than One Direction and they did pretty well on X Factor.

With decent management and training I'm sure they could improve but they certainly weren't good enough. But then, have any acts actually been good enough?!!!

I still think they sang the wrong songs. They should have picked a Jackson Five song.

It's hard to tell though if they're good or bad.

Nothing wrong with the thread title. Yes, One Direction did pretty good on The X Factor.
