There's no doubt in Doctor who we NEED Daleks, but they need their evilness back!

Make them murder a major character. Thatd b GOLD!

They can't com back as an Army, when there's like millions upon millions of Daleks invading, taking over, etc (Series 1 finale, Series 2 finale, Series 4 finale), they just sort of lose their menacing feeling. So far, since the return the only good Dalek episodes have been "Dalek" in Series 1 and "The Big Bang" in Series 5 because it stuck with a lone Dalek and had more of a focus and fear that just one could kill you all, instead of an army of bajillions of CGI versions flying in the air.

Rory is obviously Jack/Face of Boe as you can't kill him

NO!

they could have with Martha or Rose.....but NOT Amy.

and i agree, the stone Dalek was terrifying in TBB!

If they have an army, the plot must be dark! as in really intensely dark like this series opener. Have an army of them but really make them do something devastatingly evil. Really shock audiences again.

Series 6 has really cranked up a lot of the unease and tension for the better and a Dalek plot would really take advantage of that. But only if the Moff really has a fantastic concept for them! I want them used masterfully. Same with the Cybermen, TPO single one was horrifyingly awesome!

The "new" Daleks fly too close to the sun and melt but luckily some of the "old new" Daleks are still around and they find whats left of Davros etc etc etc

Yeah, me too. Give them four or five years off the air; they've survived it before.

No problem at all with the Daleks being back but they need to be used properly, which means:

1) Do NOT make it the entire bloody Dalek race against the Doctor. That's only ever going to end one way and we've been there, done that.

2) Make them cunning. Victory of the Daleks actually did this very nicely, more of Daleks being sneaky please!

3) Try to make sure they don't get saddled with the idiot ball. Avoiding situations where they could kill the Doctor but don't would be nice. Other aliens you can handwave but the Daleks at this point SHOULD blast him on sight and in the past this had only been avoided by them catching a sudden case of the stupids.

Personally I'd like to see them come back once this year (I know they're probably not, shush), once next and be the big bad in 2013. That way the stories this year and next can have the Daleks actually winning and setting up something really nasty in 2013. Big Finish has done that... I think at least a couple of times with one Dalek story leading into another and it works very very nicely.

Yeah, I agree with that. The show has overdone the Daleks since it came back in 2005.

They're like the Borg on Star Trek. They're great when they show up infrequently, but if you do them too often, they end up losing their sting. constantly defeating them on such a regular basis makes them look weak and useless.

Because you don't like her or just because you want to see the Doctor's reaction? Or both?

By not writing a story involving them at all this series? Or actually killing them off properly for once.

How about a episode where there is at least one dalek that dosnt have its shell machinery and we get to see the actual dalek that is and it sliding around jumping on peoples faces and sucking the life out of them lol. Make the dalek really creepy and slimey.

I don't like her, as a companion she is entirely defined by the male cast and seemingly has no personality or character of her own. I don't want companions/assistants that look good and scream when captured- I thought the show had moved beyond that.

Amy is a fantastic companion. She has appeal but she is engaging. YES i am a male, but just because she is attractive doesnt mean that is her only appeal.

Amy is a fantastic character and has really brought the old skool vibe companion with her. She is also very independant and we are seeing so much to her character development. Hate for anythinv to happen to her. And i love Rory to pieces too, i hate when he gets shot or actually killed previously the only character i genuinely cared about was Donna, but one year was enough

But this time i feel for the Doctor, his companions and the story lures me in.

And i really want the Daleks to have such a phenomenal story when they comeback, make real event out of it and create such a frightening atmosphere with them, create a real sense of doom and apocalyptic vibe!

Just imagine if the last time we'd seen the Daleks was in The Parting of the Ways......think of the impact if they came back now, with none of the crap stories they've been in since then even existing!

Nope, sorry but that defence of Amy Pond rings as false. Appreciate you love of Rory though, he really seems to have come on as a character in leaps and bounds.

Amy Pond, end of.

I don't much like the look of the new Daleks but I do like we're not going to get ever lamer excuses for bringing them back - now they can be brought back anytime the script writers want to with out having to come up with a stupid, convulted reason for their return as we saw a lot of during RTD's era. I agree though that we need a break from the Daleks and would like at least one or two series before we see them again and them turning up occasionally reminding us that they're still menacing the universe. I'd also like to see the Time Lords brought back permanently on Galifrey, and I may get to see that in this weeks episode, maybe. I don't know. I shall wait and see and hope. It doesn't even have to be this episode but I'd like to see their full return before too long - I'm not sure I liked the way RTD took the Time Lords to explain them not turning up every so often and having to come up with rubbish excuses to bring the Master back, sure the fob watch was fine but really? It just seemed convuleted and using a previous episode as a means to an end. Then there was the awful YANA clue (as far as I am concerned) that just shouldn't have been gone to - there would have been far better means. Anyway I've started to rant sorry.

Would I like to see the Daleks back this series - not sure.

Would I like to see new shape or old shape Daleks back - most definately the old shape, the new ones look like they have been made from Lego.

If they are to come back this series, then a single ep would be best, and make them much more sinister and cunning.
