I was a very young child when Tom Baker was the Doctor and loved him. I was broken-hearted when he changed into Peter Davison and never watched another episode.

I was living abroad when NuWho started and when I came home I didn't give it a thought, figuring it was just a kids show.

Then I caught David Tennant's last Christmas special, by accident really, and that was it, hooked like a hooker on a hooky hook. I found all the NuWho episodes online, then all the Confidentials, then Torchwood. I even watched the (pants) movie. Now, I watch the brilliant Matt Smith with my daughter who is about the age I was when i first fell in love with Tom Baker and get butterflies in my stomach before every new episode! I love the excitement on her face when she sees him ("Dotter Ooo!") and hears the music and it takes me right back.

Hello this is really interesting question. I remember as a young girl watching Tom Baker and Romana Mark 2 on at 5.25pm every week and being entralled by the adventure and the cliffhangers but not addicted yet. The turning point was a series of repeats of different doctors as Tom Baker regenerated. I loved the stories and also found a copy of doctor who magazine issue 61(bless the great writers in that mag) jan 1982 and i was hooked. I would have given anything to fly away in the Tardis and i wanted to be there with peter davisons doctor and be bossy like Tegan. The new series still has its magic although it is a slicker beast. We expect so much more as adults its easy to obsess and tear it to shreds. I never thought it would ever come back so Thank you Russell T Davies and Stephen Moffat!. I salute you

Oh just to say, I can completely understand that many find watching old Who difficult. Its slower and not as polished but stick with it. I think you'll get something from it. I still feel that there are some stories that Nu-who haven't managed to match yet

Hey everyone, been reading these forums for a few weeks, since Series 6 started and this is one of my first posts.

I don't remember any of the original series, the first time I was introduced to Dr. Who was through the Ep. "Rose" - I watched due to Billie Piper to be perfectly honest and then fell in love with the programme straight away.

"Rose" was such an easy episode to follow, as was the whole of series 1, it was an excellent opener to world of Dr. Who for a new Generation and RTD has to be complemented on that. The way in which is writes Characters really makes you become emotionally attached to them. I loved series 2 and 4, am still a little indifferent towards series 3 as I was let down by the whole "reboot" ending with the Master. I thought David Tennant was amazing as the Doctor and I swore blind that when Matt Smith was going to take over that he wouldn't be as good.

I loved series 5, not at first, I'll be honest, I found a lot of the change for change's sake a bit hard to swallow. I had to watch the series again before series 6 aired and I loved it. It all just clicked into place for me and Matt Smith is a fantastic Doctor! Like most of the Posters on here, I am finding it difficult to find love for the Pond. River Song is amazing, really love her Character.

So that's how I got hooked on Doctor Who, it's all down to Billie Piper being cast as Rose. Her named drew my attention and my curiosity, now I'm hooked!!

I wasn't really old enough to watch it pre-2005 and never bothered with the movie as I'd never seen the TV show.

I started watching from the very first episode with Nine, mainly because there was nothing else to watch on TV at that time on a Saturday. I was hooked straight away - I love sci-fi and especially sci-fi that despite the sometime heavy and complicated plots can keep a sense of humour. I love the balance between the light and the dark that exists in the show.
