Sony KDL32EX403 or LG 32LD490 ?
MediaFM

Does the Sony Bravia Engine 3 improve the picture quality of Blu-ray films and Freeview HD or is it just for Standard Def ?

I am undecided about getting the Sony Bravia KDL32ex403 or the LG 32LD490. The LG does not have picture processing; does this have an impact on PQ of Blu-ray ?

I will be using the TV for Blu-ray films, Wii and possibly a PS3 in the future. Help is appreciated as I will be getting either one of these two televisions today. Thanks.

Sony are a MUCH better make than LG, both in performance and reliability - I would strongly advise the Sony.

But the Sony has, according to reviews, more game lag than the LG. Also, the LG apparently has a brighter picture. But, as you say, Sony is the better make. :/ Here's the specification of both TVs:

LG http://www.lg.com/uk/tv-audio-video/...tv-32LD490.jsp

Sony http://www.sony.co.uk/product/t32-ex-series/kdl-32ex403

Bear in mind the Sony is a previous model.

'Brighter picture' doesn't = better picture quality! The LD490 has a reputation as being poor on motion processing but in game mode the input time lag is very good (small). The EX403 has just average lag for games but then has superior processing and PQ, which will benefit film & sport viewing. So it really depends on where your priorities lie.

Thanks for the help. I will be using the TV mainly for Blu-ray films and the Wii game.

I've got the sony TV, and there is some good deals on that TV going around at the moment. I have also had LG tvs in the past and I find both companies quite exceptional on quality and value for money... Pretty much all entertainment equipment in my family is either LG or sony.
I use my PS3 on both TVs but I find the Sony one has the slight edge over LG, possibly because both PS3 and TV are made by sony, and playing need for speed on it is quite fun to do, and the homescreen on both are based on similar graphics. TBH there isn't massive differences between TVs of different makes and similiar specification... the industry has made it too over complicated to show consumers they are all different but they are remarkably similar. I would go for the sony, but also take in account of other needs or wants that you would like (such as internet tv, no of ports, general look of the tv), and ofcourse cost before chosing.
