hi

I'm thinking of getting an Android phone... (currently only have a Samsung B3410 which is so slow for web usage!)... I don't really want to spend lots on it ... would like a decent camera on it, and not too small screen ... any ideas / advice please? Would need to be SIM free as I'm still in contract with O2, but can't get an upgrade from them at the mo.

Most people here will tell you to get one made by ZTE. Orange has it under the name San Francisco. It can be unlocked unless you find an unbranded version on the internet.

The two ZTE handsets I know of are ZTE Racer (as above) and ZTE Blade.

Another suggestion for the ZTE Blade/Orange San Francisco from me.

Nice and easy to unlock. If you feel comfortable, try removing all the orange stuff on it.

Unlocking takes seconds. All you need to know is the IMEI number, put that into the Unlock Calculator and enter the code it gives you. Job done

Another "thumbs up" for the Orange San Francisco mobile.

Very easy to use and unlock. Works brilliantly!
Even my partner keeps trying to nick it off me and she has a Blackberry Curve 3G.

Excellent for Apps from Android . But dont use Orange Apps!! It slows it down!

Only 1 downside. Battery Life!

I do notice that after 1 1/2 days use , battery needs recharging. This doesn't bother me as i put it on charge at night!
But this is a problem on most smartphones!

ssshhhh, no one mention the camera!!
There is little out there at the budget level so you might have to suffer it's below average camera.
A GT540 when at £75 is a reasonable alternative.

Have you used Opera Mini on your Samsung?
