I want some suggestions on what to order tonight, please. I usually get chicken balls, chips and rice.

It must be under £9 and tasty, preferably with chicken.

Chicken in Lemon or Orange Sauce with Fried Rice £4.90 or Chicken Fried Rice £4.20 depending on your local takeaway as I know not all do it you can get Chicken Fried Rice with or without a sauce personal preference is having it without the sauce.

Other one again I don't know whether it will be widely available Chicken in a cream cheese sauce with rice or chips. My old chinese did that and I loved it but haven't been able to get it since.

I guess the old standard of Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice £4.90 and another favourite of mines is Chicken with Pineapple £4.90

Hard to say on prices though depends entirely on what your local one charges although I have given prices thats what my local charges for them and I think it is slightly cheaper than a lot of takeaways and certainly that was before the VAT increase.

I ended up going for chicken curry with fried rice and chips. I am so unadventurous when it comes to food at times.

I would say the Lemon/ Orange or Sweet and Sour are fairly safe if you decide to brave something else although there is something satisfying about a chicken curry from the chinese

Why do people go to a Chinese and order chips? Chips aren't exactly from China are they?

Curry isn't really a chinese food either, I mean not really, I know there are crossovers but seriously

Does it really matter if someone orders chips or rice with their chinese takeaway its all down to personal preference and obviously the takeaway offers this option so if people want to take it then fine.

Again why the issue with curry its on the menu so why wouldn't people order it maybe they don't like the curry you get from an indian takeaway. I know I prefer the curry I get from the chinese rather than from the indian.

You complain about the curry and chips not really being chinese well pizza isnt really British but you still get that in the fish and chip shops dont you so why not complain about people going to their local chippy and ordering a pizza then.

Sweet and sour Cantonese/Hong Kong style is nice, like chicken balls but the sauce soaks through them. We also like Char Sui with cashew nuts or Kung Po chicken (cashew nuts and red sauce, not as sweet as sweet n sour).

ETA: Love chips from the Chinese, they taste quite different, presumably they're flavoured by the oil.

The chips from our Chinese are very nice and have no oil in them, I think they are fried twice

If you have the money then why not order your usual that you know you will like and then order a second item. You could have half & half the same night or have it for leftovers the next day.

I know it's not ideal because takeaways are expensive and you might not want to risk the waste of money.

On another note though, the Chinese takeaways I go to all do cracking chips. I don't know what they do different but it works.

Mnnn we just had a Chinese take-away!

It was yummy yummy yummy!

We had; Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls, Roast Pork Chow Mien, Roast Duck fried rice and for desert Pineapple Fritters!

Mnnnnnnnnn so yummy nomnomnomnomnom!

Where we ordered it from only looks like a tiny rubbish shop, and to make things worse, it's just across the road from Iceland...

But it's the yummiest Chinese take-away eveaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Would love to destroy that right now! I always opt for chow mein over rice though.

I order chips as I don't like rice. Not really a big deal.

It's pretty standard to have half & half around here.

e.g. half rice, half noodles with curry sauce
or half chips half rice with soy sauce.
