That's the point Gene people do have lives..Hopefully vey long healthy ones...Yes its a fictional tv show and theres nothing better than losing oneself in the fantasy make believe world of doctor who...But I would rather have had the doctor save Rory in a totally impossible fictional way rather than the completely wrong non-fictional way as was portrayed...

Of course they should be ridiculed! It is RIDICULOUS to ask for a PSA after an episode of Doctor Who. You can just imagine it for every season:

I don't believe that the BBC has an obligation to teach people anything in any entertainment programme they show. If it is a factual/magazine programme then yes the facts/ other things they present should be correct, for an entertainment programme where it takes up 30 seconds of a 45 minute then no there is no need for a complete factual portrayal and for people to be complaining about this is ridiculous.

If Amy had simply slapped him on the back and he came back to life then fair enough, this was fine.

Neither do I and only one person has suggested the BBC should link to info about CPR, which is a far cry from the "Public Service Announcement" you are exaggerating they demand.

CPR scenes in programmes are always clichéd and a bit pants. This one was made worse by their lazy portray, which would have been so easy to get right.

Have you considered the possibility that Rory specifically wanted Amy to perform CPR because he knew that the Doctor would spot that he's "not quite right" - not entirely human, for example?

Did you spot that Amy's CPR didn't actually work - Amy stopped trying and Rory didn't "revive" until several seconds later?

Did you spot that after the siren vanished, the Doctor tried scanning with his screwdriver and Rory immediately threw a wobbler? He wasn't using the screwdriver to deactivate the sickbed because when Rory choked, he told Amy to "Turn it back on." - she was operating the controls manually the whole time.

I've just read through this thread with ever increasing incredulity.

Do people really think that if someone were faced with a person needing CPR they would think "Oh, yes, I know how to do it - I'll do what Amy did in that realistic programme, Doctor Who. It worked for Rory."

Do they think a child if faced with such a situation would immediately start giving CPR? Or do they think said child would go and find an adult?

I very much doubt if even one person would think themselves capable of performing CPR because they had seen Amy do it.

Having said all that, I do wish they had got it right, as we would then have been spared threads like this.

Has no one anything better to think about? (My excuse is I'm putting off cleaning the kitchen cupboards, which anything is better than )

Please do not take anything literally in the following programme. It's not real. If you're interested in anything that happens in this episode, please go on a course about it. It's not our job to spoonfeed your education.
