easy round for me as I'm really not a big fan of any of these.
1. Does Your Mother Know - this songs all about being gay....isn't it? ![]() 2. The Visitors - possibly the only hit record about the mistreatment of political dissidents in the Soviet Union. ![]() 3. On and On and On (was this a single? )4. Ring Ring 5. Hasta Maņana 6. Bang-A-Boomerang 7. Knowing Me, Knowing You - I hate this song

![]() The lyric is:- You're so hot, teasing me So you're blue but I can't take a chance on a chick like you That's something I couldn't do There's that look in your eyes I can read in your face that your feelings are driving you wild Ah, but girl you're only a child More about a girl with a crush on an older guy rather than being gay. Remember that Bjorn sings lead on it. |

1. Does Your Mother Know - this songs all about being gay....isn't it? ![]() This week is easy because I only really like one of the songs (more than like, I love it) so I would like it to be no 1 and all the rest no.7 equal, but that probably isn't allowed, so....... 1. Knowing Me Knowing You (despite Steve Coogan's attempts to make it ridiculous) 2, Ring Ring (actually, not so bad as the rest) 3. The Visitors 4. Bang A Boomerang 5. On and On and On 6. Hasta Manana 7. Does Your Mother Know |

LOL, yes, it's so annoying when the gais take something like this to their hearts and adopt it for their own bitter cause.
![]() I was joking btw. |

Rather a motley selection this time around......
01) Knowing Me, Knowing You I love this. My favourite track from "Arrival" which really benefits from Anni-Frid's vocal which is naturally lower and deeper than Agnetha's. 02) The Visitors One of the most untypical Abba singles and perhaps one of the most uncommerical songs that the group ever recorded. It's definitely a song that grows on your rather than one that hits you between the eyes and makes you immediately like it. 03) On and On and On Originally the third track on side A of the "Super Trouper" album after Super Trouper and The Winner Takes It All. Whilst not one of the stronger non UK singles on that album it's better than most of the current selection. 04) Does Your Mother Know Envisaged as a "rocker" song by Bjorn this never quite works the way it was intended to, something even Bjorn admits. Probably my least favourite post SOS single (except for I Have A Dream). 05) Hasta Maņana Quite a pretty little song. Sung primarily by Agnetha it was considered as their 1974 Eurovision entry by Stig and the group themselves. Waterloo was picked because both girls sang on it rather than mainly Agnetha. 06) Ring Ring Abba entered this for the Swedish Eurovision heats in 1973 and a furore ensued when a panel of "experts" placed it fourth. English lyrics were by Phil Cody and Neil Sedaka though quite why Bjorn and Stig (Abba manager) felt their own English wasn't up to the job is a bit of a mystery. Not as strong as Waterloo or SOS. 07) Bang-A-Boomerang The video for this was obviously inspired by Batman with the cartoon "bang"'s appearing on screen everytime Abba sing the "Bang-A-Boomerang" lyric. Not exactly the worst song from their early period but not exactly their best either. |

Actually I'm a big old homo myself and have had, more than once, sincere well-meaning straight girls tell me they think I should love DYMKnow because it was Abba's most gay song!!
![]() Perhaps they've read something into the title and not listened to the lyrics? ![]()

And if you kinda sing it and raise an eyebrow slightly during that bit, you just know it's a double entendre. ![]()

It's the line "does your mother know that you're out" - they think it has to mean out of the closet and weren't happy when I told them I thought it just meant out of the house!
![]() ![]() I can't say any of my straight friends have ever told me that Does Your Mother Know has gay connotations. People really should make an effort to listen to the lyrics. It's not as if they're sung in a manner that makes them in any way incomprehensible. |

Mid-week update:
First and second place are way ahead, however, third place is very close, with three songs all fighting for that spot, keep the votes coming! |
