Yellow Dog Poo

We recently got a 5 year old working cocker spaniel. She often does slimy, almost yellow poo. We feed on her on the complete kibble type food. Any idea what could cause that? Thanks

It could be she needs worming, or she could have an infection. I'd take her to the vet and get her checked out to be sure.

Cheap kibble often goes through dogs like a dose of salts.

If all else has been ruled out, I would look to the diet.

Our Golden Retriever does this and its a sign of colitis - try scrambled eggs instead of kibble for a few meals. This sorts him out most times but occasionally we have to take him to the vet for an injection. Golden Retrievers are an unfortunate mix of complete scavengers who would eat anything and dogs with very sensitive stomachs. His last attack was brought on by eating a bit of a very dead pidgeon

As mentioned OP this is usually a sign of Colitis. IBD. You say you recently got the dog so are you feeding the same as previous owners? Switching to a different type of food to quickly can cause upset stomachs, also have you spoken to the previous owners to find out if this has been an occuring problem? What is the kibble you feed? as you need a food now with a high meat content, that is sensitive. It may be the case of trial and error for a while if your dog has developed an introlerance to something in particular. A good wet food that is often recommended for dogs with sensitive tummies is chappie original. It may be worth having a chat to your vet but as suggested to clear your dogs system out a light meal of scrambled eggs for a day often works and also products such as slippery elm can help line a sensitive tummy when the colitis flares up.
