Hi All,

I have just had about enought of my Orange signal in my area! When i took mine and the missus Phone contracts (Iphone & Blackberry) out we had no problems at all. But over the past 12 months it has just got worse and worse to the point where we have not had a signal in our house for well over 2 months. Orange have done loads of checks and the signal should be fine but even neighbours are having the same problem.

Orange must know that there is a problem but not admitting it because they are now applying a discount per month for the inconvenience.

But ive had enough now and i want out.!!!

Has anybody had any experience with this, is there any way to get the contract ended early or does anyone have the contact details for high management or complaints at orange.

Any Help would be appriciated.

I called them last week and pressed the option for problems with my phone and got through to a really helpful guy who looked in to all the transmitter info. I just explained i joined Orange as they used to have good signal but not any more. He instantly offered me a discount on my next bill and is going to call back on or around 20/5/11 just to see if the works being carried out in my area are helping the signal.

Interesting. Reception has dipped on my Orange phone, too. I can't take a call on the ground or first floor of my house, now. I have to go up to the bedroom on the 3rd floor and even then the signal is all over the place and 3G is poor... I'd say it's been getting steadily worse over the past 4-5 months

I Write to you regarding an issue on both mobile phones on this account which has gone on for far too long now. The Issue is signal at our home address which has progressively worsened over the past 12 months. We used to enjoy a good signal in our house but this has deteriorated to a point where no mobile phone call can be made or received within the house, and also the 3G & GPRS as well. We are at the point now which we have to go outside the house into the garden to enjoy 1-3 bars of signal and no 3G or GPRS that is worth using. I have had numerous conversations with customer service representatives over the past few weeks ,that have not really amounted to much, there seems to be no resolution to the matter in your eyes. Over the past months your advisors have given me a discount for the inconvenience.
If you have a look at the usage on the account you can see that hardly any of the inclusive benefits are being used, this obviously is due to the inability to use the phones at home which is where we spend the vast majority of our time (Except When we are at work).

I was told that on the 1st of April when the Orange/T Mobile Share was finalised that I would see a vast improvement, this has not yet happened and I have been told by one of your advisors that if it hasn’t improved then I probably won’t!

You can see that I have been an orange customer for a considerable amount of time and all bills are up to date.

A simple resolution to this would be to improve the signal but I think this would be easier said than done. My resolution to this would be to end the contracts immediately without penalty. This would be with regret but after a good few months of near inability to use the service where it is needed I feel would be the least that you could do. If this is impossible a drastic reduction in the Price plan charges without losing the benefits, backdated by 3 months and agreed until either the signal improves or the contract comes to a natural end.

It's terrible all over the place at the moment. When my brother rang up to complain, their suggested 'solution' was to switch 3G off permanently. Brilliant.

I used to have a rock solid 3g connection in the past. I complained once before a couple of years ago, was told there was no fault in my area. The next day i get a call from tech thanking me for reporting the fault to them and saying they are fixing it for me.

I would always recommend calling their technical teams first and then taking it from there. If you're ok with them, they're ok with you and will be more likely to help although i guess this can be said for any company.

you have to understand the problems with mobile networks...

only a few of 1 technical team in the contact centers have advanced network tools to check exact coverage, where they also have other less accurate ones.

They are going through a time where 2g and 3g network share is still ongoing and sure, some mast were decomissioned, some have problems. it can be very complicated

I'm also with Orange and since I've had my hTc Desire (aka piece of crap), which is just over a year, my signal has been dreadful. My internet connection is also pretty much non-existent. The best place for me to make/receive calls at home is in the kitchen. If I go into the lounge the signal just drops off. However, if I want to use the internet, I have to use the pc. Smartphone my ar$e. Super annoying!

That could just be the Orange signal in your area causing these problems and not the phone. Either way, lots of people are happy with their Desires. I suggest calling Orange and seeing if there's any issues in your area first.

I've been doing that for over a year. Nothing they suggest seems to work. I've had other issues with the Desire though (see my thread from this morning ) and I'm done with Android as a result. I'll probably also leave Orange once my contract is due for renewal. Actually, thinking about it, the signal thing hasn't improved any since they hooked up with TMobile or whatever.

It's not the Desire. It's the signal being so poor that is having a knock on effect on your handset. Your handset is having to over work it's self trying to get good signal which will in turn affect performance of the phone and also drain your battery quicker.

I agree with this but when i took my mobile contract out, an important thing was the ability to use the phone at home as a main source of contact. Which when i took the contract out i could for over 18 months, Then i started with the problems to the point where i am today, so i think i have a fair argument

Lots of people no longer have a landline though, but even if you do, sometimes a mobile contract has more free minutes/calls than some landline contracts. Mine certainly does. However, my signal/internet connection is rubbish wherever I am so I'm not convinced it's not the Desire that's the issue.

Hey mate check out this thread on Money Saving Expert. Posts number 33 & 34. They have changed some settings on the Desire and many people say it has improved things no end.

I took the stupid thing into carphone warehouse at lunchtime because I now can't find the Privacy menu in the settings. They confirmed it has disappeared from my handset (they checked it against another Desire with the same software version as mine), so I can't even do a back-up. I am so

I have just called Orange. Their call centres are now in India it would seem, so the chap spent a lot of time calling me maam and just repeating the script, but not really listening to what I was saying. I told him I wanted my contract ended early because of all the problems/not getting the service I am paying for and he cut me off, albeit under the guise of 'transferring you now maam'.

Today has been horrible, Friday 13th indeed

I have had over a 12 month of constant problems with Orange. I have had promises for call back from managers that never come, and have a service that is so poor I carry a PAYG vodafone in my pocket.

Mobile phone contracts seem to be a law unto themselves, as if they try to withhold payment until they rectify a fault they just sell your account to a debt collector and you have to go through all the hassle of dealing with them and trying to save your credit rating.

I honestly wish I had never heard of Orange, and the second I can get away I am.

Same thing happened to my friend. He's had endless trouble with the Orange call centre. He too was cut off 'accidentally' when he asked to cancel his contract.

Unusual for that to happen, I always call retentions when it comes to upgrade time... Not sure they'll win me over this time, after 9 years loyal service, lol
