I can't remember a more disastrous first week for the PM in week 1 unless anyone else can? Too many oranges even if they had got them all squeezed where was the imagination in buying so many oranges? Also tomato soup with red peppers in wouldn't appeal to me at all.

This TA seems to be shaping up nicely already!
it is isn't it, and great to have a laugh again. Think LS will have to come up with new phrases, but at least we have Melody and her 3 famous chums. lol

See you tomorrow. xxx

I can,Nicholas the Toff from series 4, he even admitted in the Boardroom he doesn't get on with people who aren't from a similar background to himself.

Why on earth do they make these outlandish claims up, they'll be found out sooner or later.

Even by TA standards Melody is really going some. I don't think I've ever seen any one candidate come up with so many claims to 'specialness' in such a short time. Even if they were all true, that level of name-dropping and self-aggrandisement is quite hard to take.

I hope the Women lose tomorrow so Lord Sugar can pull her apart with those claims. Although knowing TA, she'll end up staying on TA till the last couple of rounds.

Here's a link to the Guardian blog for those that are interested. It can be very good fun too.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-rad...tice-live-blog

I like this bit of the intro:

If the audition videos are anything to go by, dazzling over-confidence, ludicrous delusions of grandeur and massive city banker ties remain in abundance - for some reason the BBC Apprentice website has opted to photograph all the contestants looking like propped-up cadavers, so hard to know at this point who we're hoping to see demonstrating their presentation skills by running around the Apprentice house in a damp towel.

Yeah she's doing my head in already. Also Edna will be one with an attitude problem. So far am impressed with Jim though - will most likely get quite far into the process.

Also reminds me of Mickey from Only Fools and Horses for some reason.

I thought it was a great start to the series. Loving Susan already. I thought she was very smart making out she was doing a special discount to whoever she was selling too and I loved her comment to the camera "I don't understand why they are praising the project manager so much, she was good but she wasn't that great".

Good episode. It seems to me that Lord Sugar has a bit more respect for these candidates than he usually has, starting off. I also get the impression it could be more personal, and that you are more liable to be fired if Lord Sugar doesn't think he will get on with you.

Initially I am liking Melody. I don't mind her blowing her own trumpet. I also liked Susan, although not for much concrete. Most of what she actually said seemed pretty obvious. I'm not keen on Edna, who comes across as trouble, or Felicity, for her terrible audition tape.

Edna scares me, she looks like what I'd imagine a female Predator to look like.
"We need some to buy some more stock. Shall we buy some more fruit?"

"Edna says no."

It was as if she stopped money being spent just to prove she was in control of it. Absolutely no reason not to buy more ingredients if the stuff was selling well. They were reduced to rationing lumps of fruit to fill all the pots. She was the candidate that annoyed my most, even more than Ed. Maybe she's not as bad as she appears, like Ed.

"Your Fired" as always the highlight of the evening, but the panel were really more losers than Ed. The Smoothie bloke was such an idiot. No wonder they had a hard time getting investment. For a while it was Dara grilling him on what went wrong, not "not an accountant" Ed.

Really harsh article, why do they take the show so seriously and I wonder which tycoon it was, who had the toilet roll made?

The most telling bit about the Mail article is the final anti-BBC comment:

"and transmitted by a broadcaster that hates business".

The Mail hates the BBC? Who'd have known.

Not sure if this has been asked but has there been a series where the project manager of the first losing task hasn't been the one to go ?

Series 4 and 5.
In series 4, the boys lost with Alex as the team leader, but Nicholas, who found it hard to price the lobster and hold meaningful (non-football related) conversations with the other boys, got the boot.
In series 5, the girls lost the cleaning task with Mona as team leader, but Anita got the boot for allowing the girls to overspend on their cleaning products.

Series 1, 4 and 5. So until this series, the loser only got fired half the time. And quite often they'd go on to do really well:

Series 1: loser finalist, winner won
Series 2: loser fired
Series 3: loser fired
Series 4: loser final 4, winner finalist.
Series 5: neither fired
Series 6: loser fired, winner final 4

So of 12 leaders, 3 got fired and 5 made the final 4 or better. It's far from being a poisoned chalice. I think it's the easiest time to lead, and if you lose you should be less likely to be fired. When people get fired anyway they are usually useless.
