To me there is nothing about Edna apart from the fact that she comes across as aggressive and without any empathy for others.

Also her pitch about the apps was squirmingly bad and she looked and sounded like a piss poor and unseductive wannabe dominatrix.

God almighty those pathetic leather gloves. Uuuurgh!

I am a black female and agree with the opinion of most people on this thread.

Although I do agree it is crazy some posters had this opinion after a few clips of just one show.

However having watched her as Project Manager last night I think Edna is very patronising and condescending in the way she speaks to people. I don't believe she is doing it on purpose but as she is a Business Psychologist and 'people manager' I am surprised and perplexed at her leadership style.

I don't agree with comments about her 'eyebrows' or judging the candidates looks as it is a business competition they are not trying to sell their looks they are selling their business skills but do agree that she needs to discontinue use of that silver(?) lipstick asap!
I agree with you, but being on this forum for so long I have observed a bit of a trend with these things. Almost always, the black female contestant is singled out even though she is being as much of a bitch at the other contestants.

And it is always the same buzz words "chip on the shoulder", vile", "aggressive"...just check out the Joanna thread from last season:
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1405435
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1370193

The producers seem to be aware of this which why ever since Jadine (I think that was her name? the first person to get a "with regret firing"), they have written the same storyline for black female contestants - start off agressive, get taken down a peg, become likeable, gets fired before the final.

A voice of reason at last, this is thread about the edna's characteristics

I don't know about anyone else but I thought Edna's speech with the gloves was hilarious.

I don't expect she'll win but I hope they keep her around for a while. She's good telly.
I thought the gloves were rather offensive.

I've seen 100's of pitches over the years, take it from me, Edna can pitch. She might well be crap at anything else, we'll see, but as far as holding the room, she did it!

She'd make a good kids TV presenter in the old Playschool kind of way.

"And you, and you and you!"

*Jazz Hands*
I thought she might slip into the 'Jim'll Fit It' theme tune at this point

She seems condescending and unlikeable to me. Very reminiscent of a couple of the girls last year who spent most of the tasks pointing out their position should the team lose. Instead of working hard as a team to try and win.

Her pitch was terrible, she didn't even explain how to download the app. Lucky for her the girls won, or she may have been toast.

I haven't taken to Edna either.

She made such a song and dance about handling the cash and she seems to have a chip on her shoulder.

And what's all this: "I deal with people" rubbish? So does everybody else.
She said she was in human resources so that's where "I deal with people" rubbish comes from. She may 'deal' with them but I bet the employee relations are at rock bottom with her. Undoubtedly the worst kind of HR person.

Is Edna the one that looks like a tranny
Yes, and rather like Jermaine Jackson (think I've got the correct Jackson brother) when he was on CBB. Scary

I'm starting to really like her. I think she's funny "I've looked at all your strengths and weaknesses, so I've decided that I'm going to do the pitch"
Priceless - and no one stood up to her!

Not from the expressions on the faces of the audience as the camera panned round. Bored, bored and whaaaat TF?? from the assembled teens. She was a joke.

The boy's presentation had everyone engaged and interested,

Her presentation was ludicrous, both cringeworthy and amusing (but not in a good way), Edna comes across as arrogant and deluded.

She was outstandingly bad a PM, IMHO! The bit about how she'd assessed their qualities and decided she'd do the pitch and then to do it SO badly!!!

I must admit to having a little giggle after the pitches when one of the girls said that she thought they were toast. Edna was grinning and her expression didn't change, but her eyes certainly did!!!

I can't fathom her yet, but I hope she becomes more human. From what I've seen so far, she's like an android!

Why did the OP have to mention race at all if it wasn't an issue?

I'm glad you say that. I liked her pitch at the time, too, although when the show pointed out the flaws I could see why it was bad. The content was bad. If someone wrote her good material, she could probably pitch it well.

She has strengths and weaknesses. She's far from being a useless candidate.

The gloves should have been a hint

Well, that counts for most of the candidates left (the two fired candidates didnīt have any strenghts). Yes, even for the invisible candidates (for now).

It will be interesting to see if anybody will try to bring her into the boardroom when her team loses. She probably doesnīt do jedi mind tricks, but she should be able to defend herself very well (though her job title alone will get her fired, but will her co-workers realize that?).

I hated her pitch but I have to admit I did like the bit where she went "With you, with you and with you", that was quite hypnotizing. I'm sure if someone had write a decent pitch for her and she explained how to download it, it would have much better.

She held them all right - in morbid and sick fascination and for all of ten seconds until their own defence mechanisms eradicated the whole sorry business from their memories.

Agree. Surely the most rudimentary grasp of psychology and people management would tell you that having the judgemental and aggressive attitude of "I have no time for fools" is never going to get the best out of anyone. I took an instant dislike to her not due to any editing but because of her very own declarations about how she interacts with other people.

If any business psychologist I encountered ever displayed such a lack of empathy, warmth and understanding I'd not be inspired to work towards a solution but to tell her where to get off!

As for the racial moderators, it has nothing to do with her being black, it's probably because she is the only participant out of them all who has openly expressed disdain for anyone she judges to be inferior to herself. And then we had the episode where she said out of her own mouth she judged everyone to be inferior to herself.

But she will provide entertainment by giving us a chance to laugh at her and then feel vindicated when she gets fired. Which is probably why she was selected to be on the show in the first place!

Whereas I thought it was creepy and entirely inappropriate to the audience! Infact it was a facepalm moment for me. I just didn't get what she was trying to do there but whatever it was, it didn't work.
