Not only is Undateable renewed, but the 3rd season will be ALL LIVE episodes after the brilliant reception of Tuesday's episode.

Also to note that Undateable is the first sitcom since Community to receive a 3rd season.

The live episode of Undateable was very good. I like the fact the East coast and West coast feeds were slightly different. There was quite a few guest stars too.

Not sure if it can take a while season of live shows though.

I think the poster meant the first comedy from NBC to get a third season
NBC have had a disastrous few years with comedies.

Sometimes when sitcoms do live shows, they do slightly different versions based on what coast it airs on

30 rock and Hot In Cleveland also did live episodes with differences based on what coast it aired on

Not seen Undatable, but an entire season of live episodes seems very gimmicky, even if it is just 13. From what I saw it was doing comparatively well for NBC on the pre-recorded episodes so is probably unnecessary too.

It does seem a bit ambitious to have a whole season of live episodes. The show is doing alright ratings wise, but it feels like a way to market the show in a new light and increase the ratings, which I can understand.

I meant on NBC. The networks sitcoms ALWAYS flop so this is a big achievement.

I don't think its for ratings actually. As you said it aas doing better than the average NBC sitcom before the live show. The decision for the live shows is based on the incredible reaction Tuesdays live show got. Out of the comedy eps I've seen in 2015, I think it was my favourite from any show this year. There was great reception all over the Internet for it, so I think they are going for the acclaim side if it rather than the rating side.

Sorry I was just going out, so I lazily didn't quote the post, I was asking "Brooklyn 911?" too, it was this one, not a question about whether it was being renewed, thanks for the answers though

Could that be because almost nothing grows? You say shows need a chance to grow, but in practise when shows are given time to grow, they don't. Hannibal was given time to grow, it didn't and has now been bumped to summer where expectations are much lower. (It's a co-production, so it's probably fairly cheap for NBC.) AMC has renewed a lot of it's shows in the hope they'll grow, none of them really have.

I can think of only two or three shows in the past few years that grown massively in the middle of their run and sustained that growth, The Walking Dead, which started big anyway and only continued to grow, and Game of Thrones, which didn't exactly start small either.

Also, given ABC have just renewed Agent Carter, so it's not really true.
Seem to remember Brooklyn was on the edge of cancellation before it got nommed for some awards.

Brooklyn wasn't near cancellation but it wasn't a major ratings winner. It's demos were average-ish. It managed about 1.2. It saw a big increase this season because it was moved to a new timeslot. Although has slipped back to it's season 1 demos since around Jan/Feb

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but FRESH OFF THE BOAT has been renewed for a 2nd season. It didn't get great ratings so I'm glad the ABC network is giving it another shot. I like this comedy show. I didn't care for it at first but it eventually won me over.

1.2's a couple of years ago were pretty rare to survive, seems to be fine-ish now, but I'm sure it wasn't exactly safe.

NBC uveil their schedule

Purely based on descriptions, I am looking forward to

Heroes Reborn
Hot and Bothered
Crowded
Superstore
Chicago Med
Heartbreaker
Shades Of Blue

Chicago Fire is not back till november

Laura only has 13 episodes. I suppose if the ratings somehow increase, the will give it an extra 9. They likely don't want to give it 22 episodes straight if it still flops.

and Undatebale, the only successful comedy they have has been moved to Friday, the death slot.

.

I thought Heartbreaker might be good too but having seen the trailer I'm not too sure, it was very cliched.

Of all of NBCs trailers that are out so far The Player & Blindspot look the best.

Crowded, Superstore & even Chicago Med are being kept til midseason, didn't think they'd hold Chicago Med back.

They have also put Heroes Reborn, The Blacklist & The Player on Thursdays which isn't great news as they will be going up against Thursday Night Football on CBS.

How odd. They move Undateable to a Friday? After giving it live episodes!!? Have they got that much faith in it?

I agree

Silly NBC. Unless we are surprised and it's performs well. But having two comedies as a lead in to Grimm is bizzare.

Excellent news.
Didn't fancy it when it first came out, similar-ish premise to 'Black-ish' I thought, which I hated.
But I was bored one day and thought I'd give it a go and I absolutely loved it.
