It's not official yet but NBC "The Firm" (based on the novel & film) has been yanked from its Thursday night schedule and will move to Saturday night (where NBC shows go to die) to rid itself of the few remaining episodes. They haven't publicly stated it yet but its cancellation is pretty much certain.

The Firm's an interesting one (the scenario, apparently not the show).

It was a cheap acquisition by NBC, a bit like their acquisition of the BBC's Merlin, and its renewal is not dependent on it being re-acquired by NBC. The details of the deal are all over the internet but there's a full season being made irrespective of whether NBC airs it or when it airs it.

Of course, if the show's as creatively rubbish as it is supposed to be then it's difficult to believe that it will get a second season but the structure of its production was more like a made-for-syndication show than a regular made-for-network show.

Did BBC's Merlin really air on NBC?!?

So is The Firm a programme that is being made for syndication but NBC decided to stick it in primetime?

Yes, Merlin's first season aired on NBC. That is where I watched it.

No, The Firm is a Canadian show that NBC bought before it premiered in Canada. so the Canadian channel decided to wait till NBC scheduled it to air it in Canada.

Here we go, here's the proof that NBC aired the first season of the BBC's Merlin in 2009. It didn't do the numbers and subsequent seasons have been relegated to SyFy in the US.

The Firm was made for Sony's AXN network (an international global branded channel that has no meaning in the UK because it's not on Sky but is in many major TV markets). It's not a traditional made-for-syndication series (like, say, Xena) because Sony paid for it as an original production for its own AXN stations around the world. A bit like if Fox paid for an original series on FX, say, and aired it on all the branded FX channels around the world (which does not happen because they all seemingly make their own acquisitions).

NBC subsequently the bought the US broadcast rights in the hope it would get a quality smash hit on the cheap. A second season of The Firm depends on its reception on the AXN stations around the world and hence on whether Sony coughs up production costs rather than on NBC's viewing figures. I think.

Supernatural is 95% likely to announce season 8 as thefinal season because the producers are ready toend it but theres zero chance it wont be renewed for season 8.

It's the networks only remaining WB show after OTH ends in April and with all its other shows underperforming (GG WILL 1000000% not go any further than 2013) it will want to hold onto whatever it can whilst itfinds new blood

The execs just need to accept it works better as a fantasy channel and have prominently Vampire Diaries/Charmed/Supernatural/Smallville type shows and maybe a night or 2 of teen dramas.

SyFy renewed the U.S. version of Being Human for a 3rd season. I'm quite happy about that.

Just read on Twitter that this season of House will be the last. Personally, as much as I like the show, it has gone downhill recently and I feel that now is the best time to end it.

Although I am glad that they renewed The Following

Still not confirmed. They seem to changed their minds with every interview.

The other CSI spin-off is expected to be cancelled. Some of the cast have already signed up for new projects.

Yeah Hill Harper has left. They did "end" it though so if it went then it was finished.

Dexter I thought that series 9 was the end, then seen 8 was the end etc.

I've read somewhere that the Mindy Project is #2 in the female 18-34 demo

They also probably aren't giving up on their tuesday comedy block.
