I can see me following both those shows, but I'm going to reserve judgement until their seasons actually start being shown properly. I've learnt my lesson regarding enthusiasm over a pilot after Mr Robot, as I loved the pilot but the series has proved a great disappointment for me. Sometimes a pilot is as good as a show gets and then it goes downhill.”

I think these pilots are deliberately leaked early to gauge public reaction. They then have time to tweak things a little (if reaction is unfavourable) before the season starts.

Lucifer is right up my alley. I don't mind if they head down the procedural route but only if the cases they solve are interesting. But then i saw the pilot. The crime they were solving wasn't interesting. No storylines were really formed. The chemistry between both the leads were promising, but at times it felt like an echo of Ichabod and Abbie from Sleepy Hollow.

Forever and Almost Human were both procedural dramas with supernatural/sci-fi twists but the cases they solved were not interesting at all, which is why I think the audience did not stick around. The same has recently happened with Stitchers although that managed a second season. So the cases need to be different or unique or at least of a supernatural nature. Otherwise it is essentially a cop drama but with a supernatural twist as it's selling point, which can then make the audiene feel cheated. Because that is how i felt with Forever, Almost Human and Stitchers.

Purely based on the pilot, I am not thrilled. Does it have potential purely based on the pilot? Sadly not. FOX don't have the best track record of supernatural dramas. They either never make it past the first season or when change direction and go downhill in future seasons. In fact, the only truly successful supernatural/sci-fi shows they have ever managed is The X Files and Fringe. But despite my comments above, i will check out future episodes to see if the show improves upon a not so promising pilot.

Glad Ray Donovan is continuing. Season 3 is quite brilliant so far.

Watched Minority Report. Meh.

Will give Lucifer a go later on.

OMG The Last Ship renewed?

It is pure hokum, and doesn't really add anything to the TV world, but I suppose it is safe tv and does well to promote the US Navy.

Full-length trailer for Showtimes's new financial drama starring Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti. 2 brilliant actors. This looks really good!!

I can see a show like this on Ch4/More4 or Sky Atlantic. Premieres in the US Jan 2016.

Quote:
“BILLIONS is a bold, contemporary drama that melds the worlds of ultra-wealth, influence and corruption as personified in two highly ambitious opposing figures: hard-charging, blue-blooded, politically connected U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and brilliant, calculating, blue-collar billionaire hedge fund king, Bobby "Axe" Axelrod (Lewis). Set amongst the Machiavellian machinations of New York City power politics and finance, BILLIONS weaves a complex, intricate narrative featuring a high-stakes game of predator-versus-prey.”

I can only assume it must be quite cheap to make as well. Surely they can only stretch the storyline out so far though ?

Anyway, watched Lucifer earlier on and loved it. Absolutely spot on. Looking forward to the full series next year - I can only hope it's going to be a 12 episode season and not the usual 22 though.

I'd second the Minority Report. Meh.

Blindspot okay, has a very Blacklist vibe so might be one to stack up and watch as long as there's arc progression.

Lucifer, I was a little disappointed to start with (I was expecting a darker tone) but quite happy by the end of it

I absolutely loved Lucifer. My only worry for the show is if they give it 22 episodes. A good 10-12 to keep the story tight and make sure there's no need for 'case of the week' filler episodes and i'll be over the moon.

Haven't tried Blindspot though, but the premise didn't really grab me though.

Lucifer is a midseason show so it will likely be 13 episodes.

If it heads into a crappy overarching route with no standalones, then I am out. The same applies to Minority Report.

It seems we have different ways of how we like our shows Jason.

Don't know if it has been defiantly cancelled by CBS, but it definitely has been cancelled.

I hate it when shows are cancelled on cliffhangers.

Rumor has it conversations have begun regarding a Deadwood movie. The show was previously rumored to have two wrap up movies when it was first cancelled but HBO never gave it the go ahead, despite the cast agreeing to do it.

With more and more shows being revived, i always thought if HBO revived any show, it would be Deadwood.

The Exes has been cancelled after four seasons. I had a feeling it was coming to an end as Kristen Johnston tweeted back in April/May that they were filming the final episode and she would miss playing her character.

The show's cancellation comes at TV Land announcing they are moving away from multi camera comedies and more on single camera comedies.

NBC confirm they are in talks to revive more of their shows. I would love for My Name Is Earl to come back. They screwed that show over by telling the creator the show was safe and to write a cliffhanger, only to then cancel it.

NBC confirm they are working on a reboot of Xena warrior princess.

I am so badly dreading this.

No news on what network are doing this but Fresh prince of bel air is apparently being rebooted.

How many past DEAD shows are they going to resurrect? Is this a new trend now? Any show that's been buried for 5+/10+ years gets a comeback?

You can't have the Fresh Prince of Bel Air without Will Smith and Uncle Phil. The actor who played him sadly passed away. That's a joke if they're thinking of bringing that back.

I'd say i'm probably swinging equally between dreading it and being intrigued by it. If Lawless is involved on screen then there's no question she has to be Xena, which means the show has to - i assume - follow the path of her passing the torch to a new heroine.

If she's involved behind the scenes as a producer, along with Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi then I guess at least there's the knowledge that they understand the show's universe and would hopefully be fully aware of what the fans would be looking for.

It would be intriguing to move it to a different timeline though - I suppose, in theory, you could replace the gods with similarly powered alien beings even. Which sounds horrible even as I type it, but i'd still be intrigued by the idea though.
